Dick Morris: If the elderly understand that they are the victims, that this is a program to take $200 billion from [elderly] medical care and give it to the medical care of people who are in many cases legal and illegal immigrants
then I think the Democrats may well back down

Speaking for my 81 year old father and 79 year old mother, I think they get the message.
Organizing the elderly, looks like McCain’s time has come.
Great, another round of victimology, even if the cause is right and just.
I think Morris is right in that Obama is now more motivated by ideology than partisanship, and he doesn’t care if some Dem congressmen go under the bus, so long as they vote for this big legacy-sized “change”.
I think a lot of their contemporaries already have as well. The other day I read someone revelling in the sweet irony of the fact that the people who have heard the call to action against this bill most clearly have been those who are the most hard of hearing. ;-)
I don’t normally make post to Dick Morris columns but on this subject he has been absolutely ahead of the curve. The Republican’s need to advertise like crazy with the forcus being on the elderly. IMHO
What they do care about is if government starts rationing services they've come to rely on. Make ObamaCare = RationCare, and they are off the Healthcare Reform bus.
Explain to them that covering more people carries with it much more costs and that it will have to come at their expense, and you will have a quiet riot that will be felt by their elected Democrats.
The GOP can’t even mobilize itself, let alone the elderly.
Any senior that isn’t outraged by obnicare is brain dead and can’t be mobolized!
I’m not sure the GOP is even aware that a Health Care bill is being considered.
Look under the desk, are they still quivering under there?
“Legal immigrants” will receive health insurance? Are these naturalized citizens, Permanent Visa holders, who?
Is there any category of legal citizen that should be eligible for health care?
I’ve paid Medicare premiums my entire life and now it won’t be their when I need it.
I would call that breach of promise.
And we use the word “honorable” when addressing them as in “the honorable congressman from XXXXXX”. I’d call them “criminal” as in “the criminal congressman from (Illinois LOL)”.
He will probably vote for it.
Of course you say that tongue-in-cheek.
Doesn't really matter, in so far as this election cycle is concerned, as long as they can vote unanimously (or almost unanimously) against whatever 'Rat bill comes up for a vote. Then, if it's defeated, they can claim that they were on the side of victorious opposition, and even if it should pass, they can claim that they tried their best to kill it.

Thanks justiceseeker93.
That’s very true.
