A growing sense in the Republican Party that health care reform of any kind is the enemy, and attacks on the Massachusetts plan from Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, appear to have prompted Mitt Romney to launch a defense of his legacy in that state, which now insures far more of its residents than any other.
Romney defended his plan on the Early Show this morning...

But Romney said the president hasn't been doing enough to foster Republican support.
"He's campaigning, which is what he does best. He continues to campaign, but what we really need now is leadership from the president that works in a bipartisan basis to fashion a bill that improves our healthcare system that gets people insured, and make sure we don't have folks losing insurance if they lose their job."
Romney insisted that plans for a public option should be ditched, saying "you don't want the government getting in the business of insurance." In 2006, while Romney was governor, Massachusetts passed a universal health care bill without a public option. The plan has come under fire for not containing costs, but Romney defended the plan as being within budget projections.
Romney needs to stfu.
Costs have gone up 33% under the Romney plan. It created a shortage of Dr.s so anyone with a card just showed up at the E.R. He just lost my vote for anything.
The reaction to Obamacare and knowing Romney did something like it will finish Romney before he starts another Presidential run. Politically, Romney is roadkill.
Romney is not an option next go around and we better not allow the media to pick us another loser.
CNN has been promoting this line all morning. They put two moron ‘experts’ on to say how well things are going in Mass with their health care plan. The John Roberts said the plan added 443,000 uninsured people to the roles of the insured. He said it only cost the state 88 million $ to add those people, which is a ‘drop in the bucket when you are talking billions and trillions’. I did a quick calculation that if he was correct, it cost the state less than $200 per person to add them to the roles. If anyone believes that crap they need their head examined.
CNN has now taken to outright shilling for Obamacare, telling lies and quoting morons who say the Mass plan is going well.
Hey Romneybots.....your man created a VERY BAD PLAN along with Kennedy.....you STILL think he’s VIABLE??? LOL!
No doubt this scrupulous RINO sell-out will be a BIG favorite among republican party bigwigs in 2012. A McCain with dark hair. Swell.
You can't out liberal a liberal, you'll lose every time. I've heard enough from the loser.
When your opposition is busy digging it's own grave, you don't chime in and tell us how right you were to do the same thing that they are trying to do.
Does he honestly, really believe that this is going to get him votes and the backing of nationwide voters??
Other than his good old RINO buddies in the GOP hierarchy?
Geez! Stupid! Just lost any potential for my vote!
even a fish wouldn't get in trouble if it kept it's mouth shut
We’re not surprised by this. Staunch conservatives recognized Romney as the RINO he’s always been from the start. It wouldn’t surprise me if he switched parties. As a matter of fact, what is Romney waiting for? He’s on the bus.
I hope Romney has a good pair of flame resistant undies on.
So Mitt care works, and Republicans need to work with Barry..........so defenders of Mitt - why?
The mittens is out to destroy the Republican brand for not embracing him in ‘08. He’s like a spoiled little brat that can’t comprehend he is not liked and no one wants him around.
Never will he be my nominee.
Bipartisan support? Why do Republicans in general, and conservatives in particular, have ANY reason to support this monstrosity? No cost savings whatsoever will be delivered, it is not on a self-sustaining basis and never could be, and the end result is lower quality and deferred care far into the future. Too late and too little.
If you want to provide mercy care, CALL it that, and not try to make things “equal”. Americans can be talked into providing mercy services, but they, like people everywhere in the world, get churlish and mulish when it comes to being COMPELLED to participate.
This is a plan BEGGING to be sabotaged at every turn.
