Weve heard about the boycott of the Glenn Beck Show on Fox News Channel... The boycott made big news when reports that major retailers Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and CVS had joined the effort. The Left celebrated, but did these three actually pull ads from Beck? I decided to check, and found that only one of the three agreed to stop advertising on Beck.
First, I contacted Best Buy, whose corporate headquarters are in the Twin Cities. The website Defend Glenn Beck posted an e-mail from their spokesperson saying that they had never advertised on Beck in the first place...
Next, I contacted CVS, and found that they had never requested time on Beck in the first place...
Finally, I contacted Wal-Mart, and discovered that they alone of this Big 3 pulled ad spots from Beck...
Update: Another reader got a better explanation from Wal-Mart:
I am sorry to hear your concern. We continuously review our media plans. In keeping with our internal guidelines to avoid content that is highly polarizing, weve instructed our agencies, as of August 3rd, not to run Walmart advertising in news commentary shows on national cable networks. This would include the Glenn Beck Show.
In other words, Wal-Marts decision was not so much to boycott Beck, but to remove its advertising from all commentary shows to avoid controversy.
Update: P&G seems to be falling off the list, too. And its not just Wal-Mart pulling ads from all commentary shows, including some of the Lefts favorites over at MS-NBC:
DefendGlenn.com has also spoken to officials from Procter and Gamble, and Sargentos. P&G said they have NOT pulled ads because they never advertised on Glenn Beck to begin with...

This boycott of Glenn Beck is going to hurt the MSNBC liberal line-up and CNN while Fox continues to have plenty of sponsors per this comment in the article: "P&G said they would be restricting our advertising to daytime lineups in an attempt to avoid controversy. While Sargentos, whose brand-destruction at the hands of angry consumers has been well-documented here, has now said they will also be yanking ads from MSNBC and CNN talk personalities as soon as it can be arranged."
“Next, I contacted CVS, and found that they had never requested time on Beck in the first place...’
Yesterday, I specifically called CVS corporate, public relations( wanted to make sure before I transferred my prescriptions) and asked the question, point blank. Did CVS pull their advertising from Fox/Glenn Beck. I was told, “YES WE DID.” I said, “thank you, that is all I need to know.” So, just what is the truth?
The truth is GB better stay on his meds. That guy is wacko.
Watch his show next week when he takes on Obama’s czars. I appreciate that kind of “wacko,” the kind who will stick his neck out for his country.
Probably that they had time on FNC, but hadn’t specified Glen or anyone else’s program specifically. Thus, they hadn’t specifically requested time on Glen’s show, but were appearing on it as part of a regular rotation until they specifically requested not to appear on his show.
hehehe :)
I heard him on the radio with such passion say that he is willing to die for the truth, and I thought, “I bet not many politicians can say that.”
I only wrote to Sargento. I wondered about that law of unintended consequences. Heh heh.
Funny thing is that this article and all the others miss the fact that “zero” is a racist by his own words, but that doesn’t matter.
I don’t watch his show. Picked this up at Hot Air:
We appreciate your concerns on the recent advertising matter thats been circulating in the media. Unfortunately, our policy and response to the matter have been misrepresented by the activist group involved. RadioShack does not advertise on Glenn Becks program and we have not advertised on his program, so there were no ads to cancel. The protestors have included RadioShack because one of our manufacturers advertises its magicJack product on Glenn Becks show, and the ads say available at RadioShack.
Obama went to a racist church for 20 years so there is a lot of evidence including the GATES incident that shouts racist — ‘hate whitey’ mentality.
Political correctness run amuck!
For your information some of us have. They are either lying to Ed Morrisey or us! They can't have it both ways.
No, he is not. He enjoys having fun with his audience.
Whats your screen name in the DUck pen?
Glenn Beck is the greatest.
No surprise here...the msm was hired to do his campaign commercials and fooled enough of the sheep.
“The truth is GB better stay on his meds. That guy is wacko.
Could be, but that really isn’t the point is it? The point is that Glenn Beck did not give a “hate speech.” He said that Obama is a racist and he is correct. Obama’s books, his speeches, and life time associations will uphold that belief. One of the primary reasons Obama rose to national prominence is that he rode in on the coattails of hating the white race coming from a racially charged district in Chicago. How many white people have been wrongly accused of being racists and we only have to go back to the Cambridge police debacle.
Oh Darling. Just for that I will taunt you with my lederhosen !
Kisses G.B.
I like a lot of what Beck says—he is making the right people very uncomfortable. That is a good thing. However, he does have flashes where he is highly unprofessional. One was where he absolutely screamed out of control at a woman caller to his radio show. This woman was probably a moon-bat, but that is no excuse for GB letting his professionalism slip. Methinks he is a one of those good guys who is also his own worst enemy.
Yea, not since these guys pledged "our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."
