Shift: Obama Will Make 'Emotional and Moral Appeal' for Health Bill (Sob Stories Coming)
The Fox Nation ^ | 08/19/09

President Barack Obama, trying to regain control of the health-care debate, will likely shift his pitch in September, White House and Democratic officials said, as he faces pressure from supporters to talk more about the moral imperative to provide health insurance to all Americans.

The rethinking comes amid a struggle by the White House to clarify its view on a public insurance plan, which liberals see as a critical part of a health overhaul.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Sunday that a public plan isn't the "essential element" of a health bill, prompting sharp words from liberal groups.

It would be so great to hear loud sobbing from the audience. I mean after all he is trying to pull the heart sting card. That would be perfect...fake tears for fake sob stories.

Would be funny to us, but not to any undecideds, and it might turn some away from us...we have to fight this with facts, just like we have been doing...the mockery of someone else's pain is not going to be helpful...we've gotta keep our senses about us....

A better route would be, "Well, gee, that's a sad story, and I feel for ya. Did you know there are other options--the gov't plan is not your cure all."

Another approach: "I am sorry you've had such a tough go. Any number of churches and charities are available. They'll give you physical and spiritual support."

One more, just off the top of my head: "What an awful experience that must've been. You have to understand, though, that the taxpayer will have less to use for his own health care if he is required to pay for yours. And that would be an awful experience, too."

Finally, our freedoms would be lost under ObamaCare....even CNN had to acknowledge it...

Your right, to many stupid people out there. But you have to admit it would be a great theatre. I bet Zero would go ballistic.

He’s resorting to begging.

You know, when my kids were little and digging in their heels and challenging me, I could always tell when I was winning because after the negotiating phase, they’d resort to begging.

Right out of the playboook. Show pitiful people without insurance and with serious medical problems and boo frick’n hoo.

Why not provide everyone with life insurance? They could run out poor widows with 5 kids and no way to support them. Boo frick’n hoo.

I'm sorry folks, it won't work on me. Socialism sucks. Obama is putting this country under through debt.

I don’t care how many sob stories come out I do not want the government handling health care. They already suck at the parts they control now. No Sale.

The VA hospital in Syracuse some years ago, had their ORs remodeled and had to have the surgeries farmed out to local hospitals.

The mortality rate dropped in half for that time.

Don’t forget that the government was also recently trying to make the veterans pay for their own health care through private means first, before giving out the benefits. What do you want to bet, they’ll pull something like this with us as well.

Just what I want. Government health care.

Oh yeah, it'd be hilarious.

Did you read the post on another thread about a lady who just made a sign that said "HA HA HA" on one side...it was blank on the other?

She went to a "town hall" meeting where some 'rat joker was talking up Hussein's plan. She sat in the front row. Whenever he'd make a lying statement, she'd hold up the sign--all he saw was a blank sign, but the audience behind her saw "HA HA HA" and began to laugh right after his statement...really sounds like it worked. :)

They could have a fake doctor talk about a fake patient. Who would know the difference?

I just heard on Foxnews that Obama has asked pastors to push his agenda from the pulpit. What happened to the left’s belief in separation of church and state?

Someone remind him only 1/3 of the citizens of the United States showed up to vote. 2/3 declined.

That isn’t a mandate. Can’t this administration take a hint?

We had a group of people over Saturday night for some fine Belgian Ale and munchies and the over consensus was “Yea it s a shame you lost your job and your wife has stage 4 breast cancer but just like you can’t rob me to pay for her treatment you can’t force me to pay through taxation for her care.” Or more distilled down..”How is that my problem?” But because most leftists are G*dless drones they worship at the altar of government and paying tribute at that alter with somebody else’s money makes them feel better. It’s easy to be all full of piss and vinegar about fixing a perceived problem if you aren’t paying for it.

When the sob stories and the stories of those with pre-existing conditions come, remember this.

Someone with $5,000 per month in medical bills, seeking coverage of those medical treatments and services for a cost of $1,000 per month is not seeking insurance, they are seeking charity or welfare. And anything which pays $5,000 a month in return for $1,000 is not providing insurance, they are providing charity or welfare.

Insurance insures against the unknown, based on an actuarial risk assessment.

No homeowners insurance company is going to issue a policy on an already burning house.

This is the fallacy of the argument that medical insurance companies should insure pre-existing condition medical conditions.

Perhaps we need to create a broad health welfare umbrella to assist those with uninsurable pre-existing conditions. It could be funded by a tax on all medical insurance policies, similar to the Algore telephone tax to provide telephone welfare for those who cannot afford telephones.

But let us call it a welfare program, not insurance. If the actuarial cost of medical insurance for a cancer survivor is $2,500 a month, and the government forces the insurance company to provide the policy for $1,000 a month, that does not change the actuarial risk or actuarial cost. It just forces the company to provide $1,500 per month in charity to the cancer survivor.

The government providing medical care welfare for those with severe medical requirements who cannot be insured is not in and of itself, a bad thing. Sure, it could be abused, but probably less so that other welfare programs.

Beyond that, religious and charitable organizations providing medical care charity for those with severe medical requirements who cannot be insured would be a very good thing.

Will these be real accounts or their usual fakes peddled before the public under false pretense?

It is difficult to underestimate the moral appeal of a man who has been a total fraud his entire life.

Forget it long legged mack daddy. Rationing healthcare is immoral. I don’t care what preacher you drag out.

Letting our folks die by denying healthcare to them because of price, is just morally wrong.
