EXCLUSIVE - From Prison, Karadzic Does Not Regret War Role

BELGRADE (Reuters) - Radovan Karadzic, who led Bosnian Serbs into a 1992-1995 war that killed 100,000 people, says his conscience is clear and he does not regret his role for which he is now awaiting trial on genocide charges.

"I do not regret my own role," the former Bosnian Serb leader said in a written interview with Reuters from a detention centre in the Hague.

"I didn't seek public office, but when I held it, I carried out my duties with the best interest of the people in my heart."

Karadzic was the president of the Bosnian Serbs, who sought to carve out their own state from Bosnia in the war, Europe's deadliest since World War Two.

"I am most proud of having carried out my duty without seeking personal gain or for my own self interest," he said in a letter to Reuters from the Hague, seat of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. "I will feel free wherever I am for the remainder of my life."

The former psychiatrist is charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity including two of genocide, over the 43-month siege of Sarajevo and the 1995 massacre of 8,000 Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica.

He denies all charges, though in his letter he lamented the war which, as in the past, he blamed on Bosnian Muslims.

"I regret what happened during the war in Bosnia -- the many lives that were lost, the suffering of people of all ethnicities, and the shattering of families and property," he wrote. "I deeply regret that the war was fought, but it was not our choice."

I agree with him. He did what he could to prevent a muslim invasion of his nation and its spread across the rest of Europe. War ain’t pretty especially against islamic savages.

I agree with him

Yes, but our State Department had a different vision for Bosnia, that unfortunately looks more like this:

Bosnia: "Muslim spiritual leader urges more Sharia law"

BTTT!

He should never apologize for his actions, and I’m glad he defended his people.

OTOH, we supported the narco, slave trading and AQ supporting KLA. Now they are considered the #1 drug runners in that entire region, & most of the drugs in the UK & Europe are there as gifts of the KLA.

Great job, State Dept!

The news here is that NYT retracted quietly their own lies about 300,000 or 250,000 or 200, 000 Muslims killed during the war. In reallity, around 102,000 people died on all four sides of four-side civil war. Muslim victims were augmented almost tenfold. And it was the Muslims who started the civil war.

Dr. Karadzich is no fool, he knows that The Hague circus has to convict him. He does not expect to get out alive. He will be most likely silenced like Milosevich.

But ICTY verdict has to do with legality the same thing Monopoly money has to do with economy.

One thing I don’t agree with most freepers is support for Karadzic. I honestly just don’t understand. What I do understand is their realistic concerns about creeping Islam in the Western world, but I have seen people advocate murder and deportations and scaling back Muslim constitutional rights on here and I just can’t agree with any of that.

Karadzic will be found guilty and spend the rest of his life in Prison. Sucks the UN doesn’t ‘condone’ the death penalty, otherwise they could send him to hell a lot faster.
