Glenn Beck fans are fighting back against a campaign led by a black activist organization prompting major advertisers to withdraw from Beck's top-rated Fox News Channel program.
....
Now a husband and wife team of Beck fans has launched a website DefendGlenn.com that lists the contact information for advertisers for Beck's and other Fox News programs and provides users with information and suggestions to contact those companies to urge their continued sponsorship. The site also asks users to contact Beck's current patrons to thank them for their loyalty to the Fox News star's program.
"Our goal is to hit advertisers hard with response from Beck fans with real purchasing power, unlike the instigators of this phony Astroturf boycott," the founder of DefendGlenn told WND.
"At some point they will realize they've been punked by a bunch of paid activists, college students and slacker bloggers in their parents' basements who don't purchase their products anyway," said the founder, who asked that his name be withheld.
Ok - thank you for the clarification. LOL on your last statement. :-)
I need some email addresses for such things as SC Johnson & Co., Sargento Cheese, etc. I have already emailed Clorox. Thanks anyone. This makes me absolutely FURIOUS. Alinsky philosophy in full swing huh? Isolate, ridicule and attack. Well, these companies don’t seem to realize that it is the Conservatives that are generally the people who work and purchase name brand products. The “other” group consists of a lot of welfare types who don’t work, don’t have the largest group of professionals, and generally keep up with what’s going on. I want to make it known to these companies that it would be a most unfortunate business decision for these companies to become political pawns of these marxist/commie b@st@rds. It will hurt THEIR bottom line a lot more to turn against Glenn since they don’t appear to realize the sheer number of folks that they will be offending. God Bless Glenn. CO
Don’t consider it, do it. IF Conservatives do not flood these companies with protesting emails and stop buying their products they will not take us seriously. The time for a TRUE backlash is right now. These companies need to know how LARGE a group we really are.
Furthermore, do they not realize that mostly Conservatives are the major work force and professionals with the power to purchase their products. Not like the welfare, illegal alien types who sit on their asses and collect pogey. They are the ones who buy generic products. Let’s Roll!! CO
I don’t believe that Glenn has lied to us ever. That’s a serious accusation and it quite shocks me. CO
Beck is the third highest viewed cable new program. He is a close second to Hannity who has a prime time slot.
If I was an investor to those companies I would be ticked off that they dropped Beck.
I agree with you. We don’t have a Men’s Warehouse in British Columbia but we get the ads fromm Seattle area all the time. This time these companies need to really FEEL the Conservative BACKLASH, big time. This is enough. These THUGS are out of control along with Obama who along with his henchmen are behind it. It’s the Alinsky line again right? Isolate the target, demonize it, and attack it. Not this time “you bloody bunch of creeps”. CO
That is a brilliant idea. Men’s Warehouse will feel the backlash, “I GUARANTEE IT”!! CO
...Flight 93 moment
That’s a great line!
**Im cancelling mine tomorrow.**
BOTH Policies CANCELLED.
Now, about this RACIST BLACK GROUP , beating up on Glenn, that Po’ Lil’ Whiteboy!??
So the Left keeps using the race card against any complainer who is against the One, Dem liberalism and or socialism. The hell with them. Frankly, one more useage of the race card, and the Dems will lose the Indies, Reagan Dems and some of their own bewildered party members who will not be able to understand why race is the determiner on education, health, our military, the borders. What about just common sense?? Truly, it is liberals who are the racists.
You have asked me to amplify on my comment that, "Virtually everything Beck and Gulifoyle said during the recent cars.gov segment was a lie." Here ya go...
Disclaimers:
First, follow this link to watch this segment of the Glenn Beck program as recorded on You Tube. If you've seen it before, I'd suggest you watch it again to refresh your memory. If you've not seen it before, I suggest you watch it twice. If you don't want to take the time to do this, I'd suggest you stop reading here as you don't really want to understand this.
Second, notice how Glenn tells you that if you go to cars.gov that the Federal Government can take over your computer. He makes this sound very ominous.
Third, visit cars.gov for yourself and look around. Don't worry about the infamous "warning." It's a lie.
Now to the refutation...
When I first saw this Glenn Beck segment I came away with lots of skepticism. I had serious questions about the claims Beck was making. I had a hard time believing the government would impose that warning on the public at large for just visiting a government web site.
I did some research by visiting cars.gov and by visiting a local car dealership and talking to the sales manager about his experiences with cars.gov and the "Cash for Clunkers" program. After this research my doubts about Beck's claims were increased considerably. It just didn't make sense.
You have to understand that there's two sides to cars.gov. One side is for us consumers for information. On this side of cars.gov, the screens have a green background. The other side of cars.gov is for the dealers where they can submit the payment request, etc. On the dealer side of cars.gov, the screens have a blue background.
Notice very carefully which part of cars.gov Glen is accessing in the video. He even says, "The dealer goes to cars.gov and then they hit submit transaction." Notice that the screen background color is blue. He is accessing the dealer side of cars.gov, not the consumer side.
He then goes into a rant about the horrible, intrusive agreement the government makes the user agree to. During the rant he refers repeatedly to "you" as if this is something you're going to see if you go to cars.gov. He should be referring to "the dealer," not the private citizen.
The important point, one that Beck completely overlooks and purposely fails to report, is that it is the dealer that is subjected to the onerous restrictions by the govt, not the private citizen. I double dog dare you to go to cars.gov and find a screen that looks like the one Glen demonstrates with. You can't unless you're a dealer and have access to the dealer side of cars.gov.
Kimberly Gulifoyle, the lady with Glen, really takes it off the deep end when she says (emphasis mine), "Could it be any more broad and frightening? Here you are, trying to be a good citizen and make a charitable contribution, do something that's good, and guess what? They are jumping right inside of you, seizing all of your personal and private information. And it's absolutely legal, Glen, they can do it!"
I'm sorry but that is TOTAL BULLSHIT. It is the dealer that has to agree to a possible intrusion, NOT the private citizen. Plus, her claim that this is a charitable contribution is hogwash. You can't take this on your taxes. This is exactly like the dealer saying, "We'll guarantee you $4,500.00 for your trade, no matter it's age or condition."
I've watched this segement several times. As far as I can tell, every point Glen and Kim make is a lie. Except for the brief time that Glen says, "The dealer goes to cars.gov and then they hit submit transaction." That is certainly true. And that makes everything else they say a lie.
IMHO, Glen really blew it on this one. He tried to make a mountain out of a molehill. They say Glen Beck is an entertainer. And he does entertain with all the phony baloney at the beginning of this piece about how dangerous this is and how you shouldn't try this at home and how he's using a borrowed computer. Too bad he has to entertain you with lies. A real entertainer wouldn't have to stoop to that.
There is so much disinformation out there. It really pisses me off when conservatives do something like this. It makes us look like fools, dumbasses and idiots.
upchuck, you are straining at gnats whilst gulping down camels!! Glenn and Kimberely are right. This was a government intrusion as is every single thing they are doing. Firstly, how does it make sense to you that a person with a perfectly good car should go in and get a $4,500.00 “rebate” towards a new asshole car so that their perfectly good car can then be crushed (which actually isn’t being crushed but being re-sold)? Ya wanna talk about bullshit!! this was it!! You have a good car - you take yours in and come away with another car and a car payment - brilliant. On top of that insult, one dealer interviewed said they aren’t even crushing most of the cars but they are RE-selling them. Ya, great ecomony booster alright. Nothing but a bunch of green whacko horse manure. And I saw the “disclaimer” that the website had on it. Not good. Don’t say lying just because you see something different. I understood that to say just what it said. Lie doesn’t come into it except for the fact that your getting $4,500.00 for your car (clunker). Now perfectly good cars are “clunkers”?? Waste?? Na, this is just keeping the planet green. It’s what you call “The New World Religion and worshipping Mother earth” while Obama and his minions take ALL control from you.
sad to see really. My American cousins are ready for a revolution. They cannot stand what is happening but in fact, they have to also live with the fact that they voted for him. Some lessons are very hard to learn but it shouldn’t cost you your business and your freedom. WHY are questioning Glenn Beck and not the Fraud? I frankly have seen many of your posts over the years and have agreed, what has happened to you? Did you swallow the deception? CO
My objection to Glenn and Kimberly lying all through this segment has nothing to do with the “Cars for Clunkers” program per se. In fact your entire post speaks to my disclaimer #1, “I am 100% opposed to the “Cash for Clunkers” program. It’s another ill thought out, “something for nothing” program from nobama, spreading the wealth around.”
In that respect we are in 100% agreement.
Did you watch the You Tube video? In that segment Beck spends virtually no time berating the “Cars for Clunkers” program. The Beck segment was devoted almost exclusively to lying to you and trying to convince you that by visiting cars.gov you were giving the gvt permission to invade your computer.
That is a lie.
Hope you don’t mind I borrowed most of your excellent letter. I added.. my family and friends won’t be buying your products.
Off to send my emails.
I hated Sargento’s “persnickety people” line. Persnickety people turn me off. The guy struck me as a liberal anyway. Good riddance! No Sargento for me!!!
On the contrary. I am honored. Feel free to use anything that I post anywhere on FR if it will help stop this madness.
In this case, Glenn Beck happens to be a personal favorite of mine. The first time I ever heard him on the radio, he was trying desperately to save Terri Schiavo’s life.
The left has been after him ever since.
The larger point Glenn Beck underscored was the need for citizens to remain vigilant when dealing with the government. The government doesn't always play fair.
Bu the way, your protests come off more than a bit excessive--they're way over the top. I suspect you have some other beef with Glenn Beck. It is highly doubtful that you are winning converts to your "Glenn Beck is Bald-faced Liar" fan club.
You are wrong. Glenn did make the distinction. He was talking about the government issued software program DEALERS had to use...which made them part of the government program.
You say you don’t watch TV. One youtube segment does not explain what came before it or after it.
Beck goes to great pains to be accurate. You haven’t in this case.
He made the distinction. Even if he didn’t, I’m not okay with the government messing around with dealers.
Thank you for the information. I will send emails and go to the site as well.
