Swine flu jab link to killer nerve disease...

Leaked letter reveals concern of neurologists over 25 deaths in America

A warning that the new swine flu jab is linked to a deadly nerve disease has been sent by the Government to senior neurologists in a confidential letter. The letter from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health, has been leaked to The Mail on Sunday, leading to demands to know why the information has not been given to the public before the vaccination of millions of people, including children, begins.

It tells the neurologists that they must be alert for an increase in a brain disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), which could be triggered by the vaccine.

LOL, I remember having to pull some stunts like that in my association with the military:)

I PCS'd CONUS in 1998 for my last year and outprocessing was "interesting". I remember this one instance where I was supposed to have a sub office of CBPO (personnel office in the USAF) sign my form. But the guy there told me that some other guy at another office had to sign his section first. So I went to that place and he sent me back to CBPO. The guy at CBPO was one of those "ageless white guys" who looked like he'd been a GS employee since he retired in the 40s and perhaps the preservatives in food was preventing him from aging past 60-something. Anyway, he wouldn't budge and I was trying to explain that in 18 days I was going to be a civilian with NO inactive reserve obligation. He just didn't care. I asked him to please call the other office and try to sort this out for me, and he simply refused. I got mad and slapped my ID card down on the counter top and said, "Do you see that?! See the expiration date?! When THAT date arrives, I'm dumping off of the shit that I have which belongs to the USAF at the gate and I'm going HOME!...and personally I don't give a flying fart whether you sign my damned form or not because when I get out in the parking lot I'm going to sign it for you ANYWAY!"

The guy started to get mad and say something when I heard movement in the area behind him around the corner. He looked behind him just as a Lt. Col stepped into view...and I thought, "Oh crap...NOW I've done it...!" This rather stern Lt. Col looked directly at me and my name tape and said, "What seems to be the problem SSgt ****?" I went over the little "who's on first" problem that I was having between CBPO and the other office and he nodded sternly and listened while the other guy just stood there looking at me with equal sternness. I was NOT feeling good about this! Then the Lt. Col looked at the other guy and asked, "Is this true?" ...to which the guy answered, "Yes Sir." Then the Lt. Col replied to him, "So sign the damned form!!!" Then he turned to me breaking into a big smile and shook my hand like I thought it was going to fall off and thanked me for my time and service and we chatted for about five minutes and he did the right thing and tried to talk me into not leaving!

I said bye to them as I was leaving and I still remember that Lt. Col standing there smiling like some sort of big kid, and the old GS guy standing next to him looking like somebody just pissed in his cool aid! :-)

I’ve received seasonal flu shots every year since 1991 and am happy to report not one case of ‘flu’ since. Prior to that I got hit hard with influenza a couple of times.

BUT........... this swine flu shot seems different — too dicey for my taste. I’m 60 now so seem to be out of the age range of those who get hardest hit by swine flu. I think I’ll pass on that vaccine.

BTW, for those of you over 60 who’ve had chicken pox, it’s a good idea to get an anti-shingles vaccine to help prevent shingles. Even if you’ve had shingles, you can get that plague again. This info was related to me via physicians and pharmacists, and patients alike.

I had a really bad case of shingles in late fifties and still have the non-stop discomfort from it — after nearly 3 years it’s not likely to go away — ever! Trust me, post- herpetic pain or itch is not something anyone wants —

Swine flu on the other hand — hmmm, I’ll take my chances without the shot.

in 1999 I received my first flu shot....it was free at work.

I have been sick ever since. I was diagnosed 8 years later, (retroactively) with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I have CIDP a type of peripheral neuropathy and am so lucky as to not being able to sue as it is so long ago. Finally last fall,I opted to take disability from my company plan....it has gotten that bad.

My 18 year old son recently was told he ‘needed’ a flu shot for college and he told them about my Guillain-Barre, and they quickly told him that no, it is just recommended.

There is a criminal element to health care that can only get worse is government gets involved.

I know many many people who have routinely gotten flu shots every year and been happy about it. But, as in the case you cite, there are exceptions. A friend’s niece (in mid thirties) got a flu shot, first time ever, about two years ago and ended up in the hospital with horrifying symptom and still no real diagnosis other than bad reaction to flu shot.

She was paralyzed and otherwise very sick for months — had to wear her pajamas 24/7, didn’t leave home for months post-hospitalization, etc. Years later she is almost 100% but certainly will never get another flu shot of any kind.

I’ve been lucky with seasonal flu shots as have most people but there are those few cases that turn out badly — pretty much the same thing for ALL pharmaceuticals, actually.

She said: ‘It makes me feel wary that the Government is rolling out this vaccine without any clear idea of the GBS risk, if any. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone and it certainly changed my life.

But they will have and already do have a good idea of the risk because of the clinical trials.

Ahh, the new crisis. Designed to take our mind off of health care protests and point out that only the government can make sure you are vaccinated with a vaccine guaranteed to kill you off, if it is anything like some vaccines for flu given in the past.

This is just another manufactured crisis, one of many continuous scares designed to keep us off guard so the left can do whatever they want.

Twas an island country somewhere....in SE Asia, I think..that had rural pig farms..where the pigs just started falling over dead.

If memory serves me...they traced it to some sort of bat...that was a carrier of this virus.

Can't remember how they figured the transference happened...but apparently it did.

CDC types...went in there and killed every pig within miles.

no not actually.....I had worked in the pharmaceutical/biologics business since ‘79 and when things are proven harmful they are immediately taken to task by the FDA...you get reamed if you pull that crap in general (my department was audited annually, as part of my company's annual audit, and I had to answer for any discrepancies). But for some reason these flu vaccines get some kind of pass, and I don't understand that.

I’m with you on this- Been gettign flu shot every year- never get reaction to it- but, as you say, this swine flu shot might just be a different animal altogether- I’m not well health-wise, and not sure if I’d survive a negative reaction (let alone GBS)- but I know I’ll probably not survive the swine flu as it causes pneumonia, which woudl be devestating because of my breathign problems- it’s definately goign to be risky— but then again even gettign hte ‘simple’ flus can be risky- uggh! Not realyl sure what to do in htis case- The n umbers look ok of the lcinical tirals, but then again, it was only taken in small minority of people- will have to see how htigns go I guess

We got the shot in Europe too.....1970, spring if I recall. I never accepted another shot, and frankly, My immune system has improved to the point where I don't get the flu. I have not had a case since 1985 or so....

I get a rare but irritating head cold every few years, but no flu.....

I can't say what is best for you, but if you have taken flu shots for that long and not had a problem, I doubt you will have a issue with the SF shot. Yes, you will have to take both the regular flu and the swine specific version.

I don't know what these shots do to a persons natural immune system. I suspect they interfere with older protections as you get newer shots and it might be a good idea to continue doing what you were doing. It would be a mistake to change now, with your health issues in my layman's opinion.

My cousin is an epidemiologist, working for a certain east coast state. She happens to be visiting me this weekend. We just had this discussion about an hour ago. She has no qualms about getting this flu vaccine herself. She says the risk of getting GBS are greater after getting certain types of food poisoning, such as campylobacter, than from this flu vaccine.

Just so long as the one getting the shot thinks he/she is protected that alone justifies endangering the lives of every person he/she comes in contact with. Personally, I think that anyone that wants to receive the vaccination do so with the understanding that he/she will be quarantined for the duration of 30 days or longer should the effects have not worn off by the end of that 30 day period of time.

You think the swine flu vaccine is live attenuated virus?

I read a write up about the 1918 flu and they said that people who took aspirin had a higher death rate than those who did not take it.
