I know many many people who have routinely gotten flu shots every year and been happy about it. But, as in the case you cite, there are exceptions. A friend’s niece (in mid thirties) got a flu shot, first time ever, about two years ago and ended up in the hospital with horrifying symptom and still no real diagnosis other than bad reaction to flu shot.
She was paralyzed and otherwise very sick for months — had to wear her pajamas 24/7, didn’t leave home for months post-hospitalization, etc. Years later she is almost 100% but certainly will never get another flu shot of any kind.
I’ve been lucky with seasonal flu shots as have most people but there are those few cases that turn out badly — pretty much the same thing for ALL pharmaceuticals, actually.
