Sarah Palin Was Right...Death Panels created in HR 1
AmericanThinker ^ | August 15, 2009 | Josh Ashby

"Governor Sarah Palin has come under fire for her Facebook post accusing President Obama and the Democrats of including a "death panel" provision the health care bill...

AP argues that the bill's end-of-life counseling provision has been mistaken as a promotion of euthanasia and thus the death panel assertion by Palin and many other conservatives is false and misleading.

The New York Times has joined in the death panel bashing.

There is nothing in any of the legislative proposals that would call for the creation of death panels or any other governmental body that would cut off care for the critically ill as a cost-cutting measure.

The AP is technically correct in stating that end-of-life counseling is not the same as a death panel. The New York Times is also correct to point out that the health care bill contains no provision setting up such a panel.

What both outlets fail to point out is that the panel already exists.

H.R. 1 (more commonly known as the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, even more commonly known as the Stimulus Bill and aptly dubbed the Porkulus Bill) contains a whopping $1.1 billion to fund the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research. The Council is the brain child of former Health and Human Services Secretary Nominee Tom Daschle. Before the Porkulus Bill passed, Betsy McCaughey, former Lieutenant governor of New York, wrote in detail about the Council's purpose.

Daschle's stated purpose (and therefore President Obama's purpose) for creating the Council is to empower an unelected bureaucracy to make the hard decisions about health care rationing that elected politicians are politically unable to make. The end result is to slow costly medical advancement and consumption. Daschle argues that Americans ought to be more like Europeans who passively accept "hopeless diagnoses."

Seems to me like Teddy Kennedy didn't just lay down and die like they claim Europeans want to do! Your tax payer funded dollars are assisting him as we speak to fight off brain cancer. I find it insulting to Americans that we are 'expected' to adopt a European way of thinking that we should not have qualify of life and every moment we can with our loved ones.

Palin never said it was in the bill anyways. It is just the reality. Tough decision will have to be made on who gets what care.

That’s right! Ted Kennedy did not roll over & die from his brain cancer...he got treatment! Now, since he is on his way out, he wants to bring the rest of us with him! Its bullsh$t that this admin expects us to accept poor diagnoses with dignity, & just roll over & die...THEN WHY DOESN’T THE ADMIN FOLLOW THE SAME RULES, if they are so hell bent on passing this deathcare!

Somebody should remind ole Teddy that since he took the choice away from Mary Jo to get help, maybe he shouldn’t be so quick to speak on taking life sustaining chances from the rest of us!

You are absolutely right! It was never stated in the bill! What IS stated is that there will be bureacrats deciding who gets treatment & who doesn’t. THAT IS a death panel!

This is one of the reasons -7nobama was so insistent the Porkulus bill be passed NOW!

I remember a Fox News babe interviewing Arlen Spector, before he became a Dem, about this. You could tell from the look on his face he had no clue about this. But he did adamantly promise to “rip this out of the bill before we vote.” Sure he did. Asshole!

You got it, it is death by passive resistance to providing any care to seriously/terminally ill. They are supposedly removing those pages regarding end of life orders, however if it is covered in Stimulus/Porkulus, it was anticipated to be a problem since they already slid it through like the SNAKES they are. VOTE EM ALL OUT IN 2010, WHO VOTED FOR STIMULUS/HEALTHCARE or any other BAILOUTS.

If they weren't there, why were they removed?

Not only those patients, but to anyone who is mentally or physically handicapped, ie cerebral pulsy, down syndrome, & those who are handicapped in their reading & writing abilities, various forms of mental retardation. As this bill puts it...anyone who is not a productive entity in society...

Sarah has been scaring the crap out of the libs since August 2008. She posts her opinion on facebook, BAM, its everywhere, and the media can’t help themselves. They hate her, but they can’t stop obsessing about her and reporting every single thing she does and says, so she uses that to her advantage. They bash her, but they know she is right. She has done more to throw a wrench into the Liberal agenda in a week then the GOP has done in months. I have never seen anyone scare the libs as much as Sarah Palin does. And why is it that NO ONE in the GOP is standing up for this woman and saying BRAVO, WELL DONE! Oh, who am I fooling, the GOP Elitists will never support her anyway, I think she is following the Reagan model, go directly to the people, except she is using the Internet to spread her message and its WORKING

I disagree - it isn't a death panel. Lack of care for MRSA, diabetes, cancer, infections = death Those who can decide you don't get care, even if you have the money to pay a doctor and doctors willing to treat you, is murder. It's a murder panel. ObamaCare Jokes Obama Jokes

ANY FREEPER WITH A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT should be backing up Palin, and using page numbers, etc. The new HR3200 may have different page numbers, Section numbers, and location changes to keep us from knowing what is where...so BE AWARE OF WAXMAN DECEPTION, when it finally comes out. The Amendments agreed to by Blue Dogs have been kept secret, as far as I know.

Where is the death panel provision in the Health care bill?

If Mrs. Palin said it was there it must be...

Did she in fact say it is or was in the Bill?

When I contemplate living under the conditions that will exist in the Marxist paradise Obama has planned for the US, I tend to think that simply taking the pain pills while waiting to die might be a better choice than getting life-prolonging treatment after all. I have no desire to live under an authoritarian communist regime like the old Soviet Union and it's captive satellite nations.

I believe Obama inadvertently let the cat out of the bag when he revealed some of his plans for a civilian national police force armed with the same weapons as the military. IOW, ACORN armed with first-line military battle equipment, and authority to use it against Americans who won't knuckle under and obey the rules of ObamAmerika's Marxist society. I believe he plans to ultimately run Amerika the way Stalin ran the USSR and Mao ran China, and that's a very scary scenario AFAIC. There are many things worse for a Christian than physical death, and for me living in virtual slavery under a communist/atheist dictatorship is one of those things.

If you want to learn more about the urban terrorist organization known as ACORN and Obama's intimate relationship with it, check out This NRO article by Stanley Kurtz written before Obama was nominated

Please don’t fall for this lie. Death panels are the health commission that select the care you get when you are 65 versus 30!! Death counseling is COMPLETELY different. Stop this stupid morphing!! The bill has death panels choosing your treatment rather than you and your Doctor. Let’s get smart people..NO DEATH PANELS. To hell with death counseling. That is NOTHING!!!

you are correct, the death panel reference is related to the introduction of bureaucratic committees who will make cost cutting decisions on who gets treatment and who doesn’t. This is sick. Americans deal with these decisions based on doctor relationships. A govt. committee will be a nameless faceless entity, without compassion.
