My Message to Geico, and their answer.
I learned yesterday afternoon that Geico had succumbed to lefty pressure, and pulled their advertising from Glenn Beck's show. I decided to email them and tell them that I would be pulling my insurance from their show if they did this.
My Message to Geico:
>General Category: Other > Specific Category: Other > State: NH > > Comments: I read that Geico has pulled their advertising from the Glenn > Beck show due to pressure from a radical leftist group. > > We currently use Geico for all of our car and recreational vehicle > insurance. If this is true, I will be moving all of my insurance to > another company. > > I will also be telling all of my friends, and forwarding this message by > email to everyone that I know. > > I think you should quickly reconsider.
Dear XXXX:
Thank you for contacting GEICO.
Thank you, first of all for your business and also for your interest in this matter.
This week we took action to move our marketing messages from the Glenn Beck show and you are wondering why.
Well you deserve an answer.
If the inflammatory nature of the comments on a program overshadows our message and causes GEICO to be drawn into a national debate, we are likely to reconsider where we place our marketing messages, which is what we did.
GEICO delivers very important messages through its major marketing campaigns: were saving customers dollars, were easy to do business with, were looking out for our policyholders. Thats what we hope the public hears and sees and focuses on.
As a company, we do not take positions on controversial issues.
As an advertiser, while a national debate on issues can be healthy and appropriate, we dont see ourselves in the role of taking part in those debates.
Our business is auto insurance. We want to bring people value and we attempt to reach large audiences with that message.
It is of little benefit to us if a program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out.
GEICO Corporate Communications
They don't take positions on controversial issues?
They took a position by withdrawing. I encourage you to withdraw also.
Good one Hoss!
HEY!!! I’m watching Beck and a GEIKO commercial was just on!!!
Good on everyone for writing! Thank you all :-)
No, that was a PM to a GEICO customer to motivate him to get off his dead a$$ and change.
I agree but there is just something about the Progressive chick that I really like.
He probably advertised with them for the sole purpose of ending the ads once the faux outrage was drummed up.
Let him and his nappy lizard go advertise on MSNBC during Olbermannns show, I'm sure Olbermanns mom the shows only viewer will find them funny.
Posted the original thread story on this at work this AM. Folks with lizards for insurance agents were asking others for recommendations regardless if it cost more or not. I heard a few working the issue on phones.
Lizards R us IS playing politics and losing money by kicking dirt on a good show.....
Hope they lose lots of money on this.
Not at all. They eat insects. My cousin was stationed in Southeast Asia, and households there tried to attract geckos to keep down the insect population.
They are not GEICO which used to cover Government Employees and recently cover all vermain. Who gives a shitte what they do...and yes USAA don't advertise. As a matter of fact they just announced here in Texas they will decrease rates almost 6 percent unless you live on the coast.
Great news!
I have no connections to Geico except that their radio ads are getting a little tiresome.
BTW I do not have TV and Beck's radio show is not carried locally. He used to be on the air here (10 years ago?) and I liked the show.
My son had an accident with a hit and run.
Geico did not cover him for he did not get the (required) license number of the car.
Now the poor kid is filing bankruptcy due to the accident..!
(Above is 100% true. LVD)
All sources I have seen tell me that Warren was born in 1930. This would have been quite an achievement for a thirteen year old.....being an investment consultant.
You need XM!
Can I be honest?
Geico has an army of people who's only job it is to to discredit those making claims in an effort to limit their liability at all costs regardless of reason or facts. At one time I had to deal with some of these folks, and I have never met so many controlling, strange, depressed and obnoxious females in all my life. So bad some of the males were vocally telling others, to watch out for them! lol.. The males were not much better.
When they hire new hires, they survey new hires about their commercials, and these people got angry at new hires that didn't say they loved their commercials. Really weird stuff.
I'll bet she's a "screamer".
Whaddaya think?
