The WH maintains a massive e-mail list as part of its effort to promote its position on pressing issues. On Thursday, senior adviser David Axelrod used the list to send out a "chain" e-mail asking supporters of health care reforms backed by the administration to forward his rebuttal to criticism circulating on Internet.
The mail offered reasons to support Obama's agenda and tried to debunk what the White House decries as myths in the health care debate.
...
But some people who received the e-mails directly from the White House forwarded them to FOX News and asked how they ended up on the list when they've never been in communication with the Obama administration. Some wondered if visiting the White House Web site automatically places them on an e-mail distribution list.
...
Asked whether the White House seeks other pieces of information to identify those who might be curious about health care even though they have never signed up for e-mails or visited the Web site, Gibbs said he would have to see the e-mails to know.
Pressed to explain why he couldn't answer, Gibbs said "Well, I hesitate to give you an answer because you might impugn the motives of the answer."
"Why would you say that?" Garrett asked incredulously.
"Because of the way you phrased your follow up. I'd have to look at what you got, Major. I appreciate the fact that I have omnipotent clarity as to what you've received in your e-mail box today," Gibbs said.
"You don't have to have omnipotent clarity. You don't have to impugn anything," Garrett fired back. "I'm telling you what I got: e-mails from people who said I never asked anything from the White House."
Ending the exchange, Gibbs said, "Let me go someplace else that might be constructive."

Just how did the WH get FOX e-mail participants?
Did someone at FOX get careless with their e-mail distribution lists and not make it private or give it an alias? Is that how the dirty dogs got FOX's e-mial participants. If so, FIRE the FOX GUY. That violates privacy and he/she is incompetent. Or do they work for Obama on the side?
I think people wrote to Major Garret b/c they knew he was the Fox WH correspondent, not b/c the emails came from Fox.
I don’t think it’s a matter of the WH getting FOX e-mail distribution lists.
Freeper boxerblues states:
“I set up a new yahoo account just for the flag@whitehouse.gov I started receiving emails the next day, marked them as spam

Doesn’t sound like he had used that e-mail to get onto a FOX distribution list....

ummm, if you have emailed your critter or senator, your email address was captured and since they all use the same series of servers those email addresses are “available” for lookup and use.
Yeah, I’d like to know how Obama got all those email addresses.
Most likely the fishy e-mail address that the white house asked you to turn your neighbors into, provided them with a list of e-mail addresses that they used to send out this mass mailing.
Just my thought!
I suspect "flag@whitehouse.gov" is the source.
As I understand it, these e-mails were sent to Garrett to ask at a Town Hall meeting.
“You don’t have to have omnipotent clarity. You don’t have to impugn anything,” Garrett fired back. “I’m telling you what I got: e-mails from people who said I never asked anything from the White House.”
Now, FOX is getting flack from the people who e-mailed Garrett abut getting UNWANTED e-mails from the WH.
Learn how to read.
It does not read the emails emanated from FOX.
The emails emanated from the White House.
Marking the emails as spam is about as apt as one can get.
The pfishy white house website? Big brutha is watchin’ you. Yo.
Has anyone else connected the dots on the resignation of Obama’s White House cybersecurity and internet czar with the exact day of the flagatwhitehouse program? FOX needs to interview HER!!
"Continued Gibbs: "but nobody is collecting names."

The flag @ gov program reminds me of a school kid turning in his parents for pot.
I told my wife to quit mailing our liberal kid because he might out of "love" want obama to set us straight, unwillingly setting us up!
This is the begining of the "civil" force obama wants.
Obama so much like President L...L...L..., uh, Nixon.
In the world of ethics: Nixon X 10 + Sweet Smile + Tight Butt = Obama.
Apparently that is what may be happening, it happened to me. My question is, however, is that legal?
Except I started getting mine in June, the snitch site is only a few weeks old I believe.
