CNBC reports that Les Paul, legendary guitarist and guitar designer, has died at age 94

Les Paul has died at age 94. His electric guitar designs and innovations were central to the development of rock guitar artistry beginning in the early 1950s and continuing to this day. He was playing to the very end, too, in small groups in New York clubs.

So long to a great one...

Holy Crap! Too bad. I hope you didn’t sell you’re Les Paul — maybe it’s worth more today. Anyway, the world will miss him for all his music and innovation.

Still have it, BEJ. We'll see...

Serious question:

Who really had a bigger influence on popular music, Les Paul or Michael Jackson?

You can't be serious. Without Les Paul there would be no rock and roll.

As father of the modern solidbody electric guitar and pioneer of multi-tracking, Les has his own special niche among our legendary guitar heroes.

My dad hated him for his “gimmickry”, but I loved him.
One of my most beloved guitars is a Gibson Les Paul.

RIP, Mr. Paul. A lot of people owe a lot to you.

I had just listened to that and was scanning the thread to see if had been posted. It is wonderful.

Prayers for his family. There is nothing left to say about his great talent that hasn’t been said many times over.

Got it, thanks.

I’ll be playing my Les Paul tonight as my own personal tribute to the great pioneer.

Les Paul’s prototypes are on display at the Discovery World Museum in Milwaukee. They have a nice, hands-on Les Paul exhibit.
