Thirty-two percent (32%) of voters nationwide favor a single-payer health care system where the federal government provides coverage for everyone. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% are opposed to a single-payer plan.
Fifty-two percent (52%) believe such a system would lead to a lower quality of care while 13% believe care would improve. Twenty-seven percent (27%) think that the quality of care would remain about the same.
Forty-five percent (45%) also say a single-payer system would lead to higher health care costs while 24% think lower costs would result. Nineteen percent (19%) think prices would remain about the same.

These polls numbers are just staggering bad news for Obamacare.
We’ll see if Democrats use a “nuclear option” by doing the reconciliation thing in the Senate to avoid a filibuster there. Then, somehow see if they keep enough Blue Dog Democrats on board to get to 218 votes in the House to pass this thing.
It would be frustrating to see such a big broad policy change in all of our lives pass Congress by a handful of votes. If it passes, it will be very close in both House and Senate. It could be that Democrats are thinking that they will lose seats in the Nov 2010 mid term elections, and that now will be there last best chance to force socialized medicine on America.
It could be that for some of the liberal Democrats, the orgasm of joy they feel if their life long dream of socialized medicine passes will override future election losses. If this passes, it will be damn hard for a future Congress and president to repeal this.
These numbers are rapidly shifting our way. It was just 51% a couple of days ago.
It is amazing....only 32% of the people support what Obama wants, but yet 100% of Obama’s audience support it. What are the chances of that just happening. I am sure, well over 1 in a million.

They are the ones who wouldn't have to pay for it.

So let’s compromise. All liberal democrats who favor single payer can go into a government run system that is funded specifically by their tax dollars. The rest of us won’t pay taxes into that system, and can keep our private health insurance without any government restrictions.
why are so many democrats for government takeover of healthcare?
they want to creat another lock box like ss so they can rob it.....thats why they dont care what we want or dont want....it took us workers 224 days this year to pay for government.....they want you to pay 365 days per year for thier fun and folly......we need to tell them no more spending and no more programs..they need to undo the mess they created.....
They also know that it will add to a Dem-dependent bureaucracy that will provide them with votes and foot soldiers at election time. Its bad enough that the nurse’s and orderlies’ unions in MY area are regularly taking their marching orders during election season. Multiply that ten-fold and you will see the same phenomenon nationwide.
If the Dems railroad this thing and get it passed, without any GOP votes, there will be a bloodfest in Nov. ‘08 in Congress. It will make 1994 look like a walk in the park.

I have an idea. Let the "blue cities" (DC, Austin, LA, San Fran, etc.) adopt this plan for about ten years with THEIR taxpayers pay for it, and see how it works.
I understand. are they willing to give up 100% of their income to pay for gov programs..all this healthcare program is is another way to rob the public and take away our rights.do they want that for their children....a country with no opportunity or hope.
I cant explain all of them, but I can tell you that a good number are single women who are married to the government instead of a husband.
