Only in America: Gunman waits outside town hall meeting for Obama - and police say it's OK
Daily Mail UK ^ | August 12, 2009

A 9mm pistol holstered clearly to his side, and holding a placard that references spilling the blood of patriots, this gunman is waiting for none other than Barack Obama.

But instead of being wrestled to the ground by police and taken away to prison, William Kostnic is left untouched - because it is legally OK to carry a weapon in New Hampshire so long as it is not concealed. Even American commentators were taken aback at the sight.

'Just to be clear,' a baffled MSBC anchor said to the reporter on the scene.

'You're saying a guy has a gun in the open - where we already know there are concerns about every president's safety, but certainly this president... and the guy's just being allowed to stay there? Is that right?' The reporter replied that the chief of police had told him that 'the law allows this man to be here'.

Kostnic was waiting for the U.S. president before a town hall meeting in the town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire yesterday. He stood in the grounds of a nearby church, which was private property, and police had no objections to his presence, MSNBC reported.

I work with folks in the UK.

They couldn’t believe I had a CCW permit and once told me that it must be like, “The Wild West.”

I replied that living in the UK must be like, “Soviet Russia.”

Waiting on our wussy freepers to wring their hands and worry about how “we” are being perceived by the media and others who don’t much like us.

Damn right . Nothing wrong with exercising your right to bear arms .

Kessler claims the Secret Service is cutting corners in an effort to save money, leaving America's first black president particularly vulnerable. The rest of the government is spending money like drunken sailors (my apologies to inebriated seamen everywhere) and we're supposed to believe that the SS is cutting costs when it comes to protecting the lib messiah?

Good retort.

When I was a little boy, I used to walk to the Village with my Mom's Colt Woodsman in my belt- there were snakes on the way-- walk in to any store, and nobody ever said a word about it.

We also didn't lock the house at night, and I suspect Dad's automatic Browning shotgun he kept by his bed had something to do with that...

The Brits don’t seem to understand our Constitution and the rule of law.

In a holster, where everyone can see it and can react appropriately if he reaches for it.

You're just scared because you don't have the sense to legally carry your own firearm.

My advice? Just don't do anything to threaten the man. He probably knows what he's doing (as opposed to you.)

would be willing to bet a steak dinner that somewhere in the background there was a sniper who constantly had his cross hairs on this dude - waiting for any ever so slight threat movement - then pop, history....

Thats what I was thinking.

Yeah, it falls under the 'SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED' part.

Geesh! You'd think a reporter would have SOME grasp of the English language!

A few open carry guys at these rallies will have a dampening effect on union goons with axe handles.

“holding a placard that references spilling the blood of patriots”

Um, it is spilling the blood of tyrants. The patriots are the good guys.

"Carrying guns openly sure goes a long way to create a much more polite society."

My first question to the "concerned" Britts and to the MSNBC fairies who had their panties in a bunch over a Citizen exercising his 2nd Amendment, rights would be: "How many SEIU thugs attacked this gentlmen while he was carrying?

Answer: Zero

Reply: Mission Accomplished!

well he may be waiting for the president but i´m damn shure he will not meet him :-)
this report looks like it was writen by the british “rainbow” press.
because weapon permit or not they would never let you close
to the president if they knew you are armed.

I haven't seen to much brilliance from across the pond ... hey .. it is a country whose most famous dessert is called “spotted dick” .... what can I say.

When I first started reading the article I thought the guy was a real troublemaker, not for carrying a gun openly, but for having a lit cigarette in the open.

Sheople have been bombarded by the nanny state whiners for so long that oft times they think something is outrageous that would never have been questioned 25 years ago. It is the old general concept of perception ... an unexercised right, becomes a right loss.

Most people have no idea about open carry. Ohio is an open carry state, but I guarantee if you walk through the downtown streets of pleasantville ... the local donut eaters in blue will arrest you .. and then mumble and try to figure what else to do to you because the made an arrest with no law to back it up.

11 States have no restrictions on open carry. 13 states have open carry with permit. Only 7 states outlaw open carry entirely. The other 19 (does that equal 57 states Obammer??) have so many different goofy hoops to jump through you may as well consider them total non-carry.

Amazing how much comes from the wonderful Europeans and the elitist of us mere colonists want to jump. My only question about the brits and the rest of Europeans, how many more World Wars will we have to come to rescue for. Morons.

Everyone’s fixating on the guy carrying.

Nobody’s noticing that BHO will be ENFORCING his decrees by the same means.

Matthews Interview

POst Matthews Interview

People like this set the bar for the rest of us. It makes me ashamed that I haven't done even this much...

To all the nay-sayers decrying this mans actions... YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Your fear of failure not only keeps you from trying, but it causes you to spread doubt to those who would exercise their Rights even in the face of hostile opposition.

I’d say the Chief of Police deserves a round of applause. He understands the law and applies it properly.
