SmallGovTimes ^ | 8/7/09 | Libertarian Party

WASHINGTON - America's third largets party Friday called on Democrats to end what appears to be a budding campaign of union violence targeted at citizens who dissent with the White House at town hall meetings across the country. Libertarians oppose not only the White Houses's plan for government-run medicine, but the use of violence to achieve polirtical or social goals.

That is an odd post, nobody has dealings with”many” libertarians, it is a small fringe party.

My first excited run in with them was in 1974 but the first meeting showed me how goofy they were.

In the early 1990s I also dealt with them when a now GOP figure attended my UMF meeting to sell the Libertarian Party to my club, he did great until after he finished and I started asking him to point out the other half of their agenda, then the bikers were repulsed by Libertarian leftism. (Now he is very popular in the club as a GOP Harley Dealer.)

You put me in the position of responding to outdated policy issues.

You ignored post 49, they are almost 40 years old and they haven’t “evolved” at all. Name one position that they have changed. immigration? no, abortion? no. The only changes they have made in 40 years is to take up the new leftism’s positions on homosexuals and the military and homos and “marriage” and homos “adopting” kids.

Remember the DNC e-mial telling SEIU to get to the town hall meetings?

Remember Democrats and the White House saying that they were going to hit back twice as hard?

Have we not seen the videos of what has happened since then?

Are you paying attention now?

No. You ignored post 44.
The current platform.
Your digging for outdated dirt to dish. That's why I sound like Libertarian. I'm not. I'm simply not into mischaracterizing groups to prove a point. Especially when they seem to be the only political party actually doing the right thing in this circumstance.

BS I showed it all in this post. The Immigration version that you posted is right here.

3.4 Free Trade and Migration

We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. Political freedom and escape from tyranny demand that individuals not be unreasonably constrained by government in the crossing of political boundaries. Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders. However, we support control over the entry into our country of foreign nationals who pose a threat to security, health or property.

2004 Libertarian Party Platform Immigration:

Immigration
The Issue: We welcome all refugees to our country and condemn the efforts of U.S. officials to create a new “Berlin Wall” which would keep them captive. We condemn the U.S. government’s policy of barring those refugees from our country and preventing Americans from assisting their passage to help them escape tyranny or improve their economic prospects.

The Principle: We hold that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality. Undocumented non-citizens should not be denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about unmolested. Furthermore, immigration must not be restricted for reasons of race, religion, political creed, age or sexual preference. We oppose government welfare and resettlement payments to non-citizens just as we oppose government welfare payments to all other persons.

Solutions: We condemn massive roundups of Hispanic Americans and others by the federal government in its hunt for individuals not possessing required government documents. We strongly oppose all measures that punish employers who hire undocumented workers. Such measures repress free enterprise, harass workers, and systematically discourage employers from hiring Hispanics.

Transitional Action: We call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol, and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally.

1990 Libertarian Party Platform:

17. IMMIGRATION
We hold that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality. We condemn massive roundups of Hispanic Americans and others by the federal government in its hunt for individuals not possessing required government documents. We strongly oppose all measures that punish employers who hire undocumented workers. Such measures repress free enterprise, harass workers, and systematically discourage employers from hiring Hispanics.

Undocumented non-citizens should not be denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about unmolested. Furthermore, immigration must not be restricted for reasons of race, religion, political creed, age, or sexual preference.

We therefore call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol, and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally. We oppose government welfare payments to non-citizens just as we oppose government welfare payments to all other persons.

Because we support the right of workers to cross borders without harassment, we oppose all government-mandated “temporary worker” plans. Specifically, we condemn attempts to revive the Bracero Program as government imposition of second-class status on Mexican-born workers.

We welcome all refugees to our shores and condemn the efforts of U.S. officials to create a new “Berlin Wall” which would keep them captive. We condemn the U.S. government’s policy of barring those refugees from our shores and preventing Americans from assisting their passage to help them escape tyranny or improve their economic prospects.

Major difference.

They had the press on their side. Including the lying Leftist saint, Walter Cronkite.

They had academia on their side. Most of the professoriate was anti-war. Still is.

They also had Hollyweird on their side.

And they were funded by the communists.

Who is on OUR side?

Where do we get OUR funding?

When Democrats consistently demean, slander, and lie about their opponents, it’s only a short step to beating their opponents up.

These thugs have no right to play a part in American democracy.

Sebelius should resign.

Good for the Libertarians. There once was a time in the recent past when the “Don’t Tread on Me” flag was a symbol of American patriotism. Now it gets you beaten up by stupid goons.

The allegiance of these people isn’t to America - it’s to Obama.

I think many here strongly approve of libertarianism, but disapprove of the Libertarian Party. That party is mostly made of odd ball liberals that don’t fit the big party mentality, and similar outcasts of the GOP who or hyper-cynical about the current political status quo.

My leanings are strongly on the libertarian side of the conservative movement, as are many here. I think it is important to be a realist as well, knowing a radical anti-govt agenda doesn’t get elected these days.

They may have their issues but IN THIS CASE, they are on the right side. If we don’t have the freedom to tell the pols we disagree it won’t matter whether or not we are R’s or L’s.

The fact is that we have a fascist in the Whitehouse. He’s called his goon squad to beat back and intimidate those who oppose him. We are at a critical point and for all those who oppose what the zer0 is doing need to stand together to fight or else lose our freedoms.

I understand that. I'm just skeptical about using official party platforms to lump an entire group together. The official dem platform consists of, in part:

"Federal budgets that over time reduce rather than swell the U.S. Government’s six-trillion dollar debt"
"Promotion of U.S. energy independence"
"Clean elections and clean government - ethics and accountability all around "

Etc. Reading it and looking at the reality shows quite a bit of deviation if not outright deceit. I think it's fair to say that the main attraction of the Libertarian party would be from people just fed up with Democrats and Republicans. Being a small 'l' myself I agree with some of the principles. Regardless of the party designation once these individuals go to DC everything changes. I'm hesitant to label the entire 'L' party as freaks.

“...without using physical violence.”

The way things are going don’t count on it.

Obama is already using physical violence.

...yet the liberaltarians use press releases to give the impression that they mean something to someone.

The GOP should take notes on this profound development in political strategy.

The Democratic Party has been the Party of Thugs since its beginning. Just look at Tammany Hall, which had been a serious employer of thugs from 1789 until the 1960s when it finally died.

Union thugs (excuse the redundance) are causing the violence while the media cleverly blames it on the normal people.
