SmallGovTimes ^ | 8/7/09 | Libertarian Party

WASHINGTON - America's third largets party Friday called on Democrats to end what appears to be a budding campaign of union violence targeted at citizens who dissent with the White House at town hall meetings across the country. Libertarians oppose not only the White Houses's plan for government-run medicine, but the use of violence to achieve polirtical or social goals.

The only part of the Libertarian platform that is appealing to the mainstream is their "small government, free citizen" message. What's sad about that is that this "small government, free citizen" message used to be the Republican message, but somewhere along the way, we lost that message in favor of a more statist model.

Someone who understands. Thank you! (and see my post 117). That's also the first time I've ever been called "mainstream", I think.

Maybe if the GOP came back on to the Constitutional reservation in regards to RKBA, taxes, smaller government, property Rights, and stay the heck out of peoples bedrooms... Than those 1%-ers would come back to the GOP and the LP would go away.

In a heartbeat. Amen!

“I am saying when the Libertarians join us in denouncing Obama and hit a home run — then is NOT the time to start denouncing the Libertarians. To do so is just plain stupid.”

It is also stupid to start french-kissing the libertarians.

To be right for the wrong reasons is often worse than being wrong, in the long term. A person who is right for the wrong reasons is not a reliable ally.

We must remember that a libertarian is either a conservative with a vice to protect, or a socialist who doesn’t realize that socialism must always devolve into tyranny.

Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.

I confess! I confess! It's true, I have a vice to protect. I'd like to keep more of my income for my family and not pay so much in taxes to support Big Government.

I'm selfish.

Conservatives = Thesis
Liberals = Antithesis

You get this formula?

If you want to try and promote a pro unlimited abortion, pro unlimited immigration, pro unlimited homosexuality in the military, pro gay marriage etc party on a conservative web site, you can't really expect to keep the threads only focused on the positive parts of their campaign efforts can you?

Beautiful, excellent reply. Libertarians make headlines most of the time by making direct attacks on real conservatives.

It made the difference in 2000. Bush ran on a fairly libertarian platform.

Actually the Libertarians had one of their better years that year so they didn't help Bush, what Helped Bush was the very strong show of the Greens Party that election.

"Green Party candidate Ralph Nader tilted the 2000 election from the Democratic to Republican parties by drawing 97,488 votes in the Florida contest that was decided by 537 votes."

The Libertarian party immigration policy is to simply eliminate the Border Patrol and let the world come and go as they please in America, live here don't live here whatever. They can come here make their fortunes in Drugs, Prostitution, late term abortions what ever they want to do without restraint or immigration issues.

Every one on the globe would be able to fly here or drive here and live without limitations, they could literally come by the hundreds of millions. Since there would be no welfare they would have to work of course, except for the lazy ones, they would have to live by crime.

I wonder how many criminals would be a part of or emerge from 500 or 1000 million newcomers from the third world, very few first world people would want to move to the multicultural, third world, hell hole that we would become.

Immigration
"We welcome all refugees to our country and condemn the efforts of U.S. officials to create a new “Berlin Wall” which would keep them captive. We condemn the U.S. government’s policy of barring those refugees from our country and preventing Americans from assisting their passage to help them escape tyranny or improve their economic prospects."

"We hold that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality. Undocumented non-citizens should not be denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about unmolested."

We condemn massive roundups of Hispanic Americans and others by the federal government in its hunt for individuals not possessing required government documents. We strongly oppose all measures that punish employers who hire undocumented workers. Such measures repress free enterprise, harass workers, and systematically discourage employers from hiring Hispanics.

We call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol, and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally.

The abortion issue is much harder to cope with. As much as I despise abortion and the people who have them, I don't think it's constitutional for the federal government to be involved with it. I find it fascinating (and the only message of hope in what has so far been one of the most dismal years ever) that national polls show pro-lifers above 50% for the first

You didn't really reveal anything with what you said there, I still don't know if you are prolife or not, supporting the most radically pro abortion party in America seems to indicate that you can tolerate abortion pretty well.

“The President is actuall guilty of several high crimes and misdemeaners. I hope Articles of Impeachment will be filed.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

You are of course correct but with Obama’s minions in solid control of both houses of congress articles of impeachment would have to be delivered by flying pigs.

Show me ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE of a libertarian, nuch smaller government, much more individual liberty “socialist.” Just one will do. Thanks in advance.

Also, would you say that William F. Buckley or Rush Limbaugh are “libertarians” or conservatives? I know Rush had/has a vice to protect but Bill Buckley was Anti-WOsD...

Define “real” conservative, if you please. Do you mean someone who actually SUPPORTS small government and maximum individual liberty or do you mean someone who supports BIG government with HIS party in charge???

Sorry, but that won't fly. Being a member of a tiny, radically proabortion political party negates that.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I believe that is true as far as proposing goes but then the house must vote on whether to proceed or not. That is where the Democratic majority would crush it. Republicans might vote to impeach a Republican but I don’t think you will ever get Democrats to impeach Obama.

Or is that STILL too much to ask? “

So far, it appears that it IS too much to ask. I am furious with the Republican party. FURIOUS! Other than DeMint, and a few others, they have abandoned everything they were SUPPOSED to stand for. This guy Obama is an effeminate wimp bully spoiled brat, who could be KO’d with just a minimal effort, but no, the useless Republicans are hiding in the men’s room, tapping their foot. Disgusting!!

"We must remember that a libertarian is either a conservative with a vice to protect, or a socialist who doesn’t realize that socialism must always devolve into tyranny."

Or -- they are someone who believes that we the people are better protectors of our own virtue than some idiot politician is. Government legislated virtue is no virtue at all.

The Democrats are trying to convince us all that the government must be "our conscience", "our virtue", with national health care, "feeding the poor", legalizing illegal aliens, and all on our dime -- as though we don't have a real conscience of own. That's BS.

As for Libertarians and "socialism" -- they are further from socialism than most Conservatives are. They are so far from socialism that they border on anarchy -- which is why I am not a member of the Libertarian Party.

It is also stupid to start french-kissing the libertarians.

Show me a Republican with the cajones to do what the Libertarians just did, and I'll "French kiss" him, too! But instead, most of the Republican leadership hide in their ivory towers French-kissing George Soros, Obama and the Democrats -- also on our dime..

Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.

I'd rather get "fleas" than be stupid. One's temporary, the other is permanent.

BS. Libertarianism and Socialism are on the opposite sides of the spectrum.

Make your point, but don't lie to do it.

Libertarian Party is full of antiwar dope heads. Constitution Party is full of hyper-moralistic Nanny State busy-bodies. The GOP is moribund with 24k RINO's.

Any other Party's out there? One that sounds a lot like a Palin/Jindal echo chamber would be good. ;-)
