Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a sister of President John F. Kennedy and a longtime champion for the disabled, was in critical condition Friday at a Massachusetts hospital.

The 88-year-old Shriver's husband, 1972 vice presidential candidate and former Peace Corps director R. Sargent Shriver, gathered at her side along with their children and grandchildren at Cape Cod Hospital in Barnstable, said family spokesman Stephen Rivers.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the husband of Shriver's daughter, Maria, was also there, said Aaron McLear, a spokesman for the governor.

Hmmm, will she be getting Teddycare or MaryJoCare?

Or just plain Obamacare?

And Sargent has advanced Alzheimers.

Mama always said if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all, so no further comment from me.

Both Shrivers have always been pro-life.

My favorite Kennedy. She has done nothing to deserve any kind of bashing (basic comment not directed at anyone). She has always conducted herself as a wonderful human being. I don’t know how she stayed above the fray with all her crazy family, but she is the only one who raised children who turned out great. Prayers for a full and fast recovery.

I've never heard anything remotely pro-abortion from Eunice or any of the other Kennedy women of her generation. It was only Teddy who pushed that abomination.

Eunice was the one who shepherded the Special Olympics, and I wondered if she did so in honor of the sister her father had lobotomized all those years ago. Apparently he did that unbeknownst to Rose, and I'm guess the other kids didn't know about it for many years, either. Imagine how horrible that must have been to find out what their father did to their sister.

I agree with your Mama. That being said, this is an interesting turn of events in this debate on healthcare. Just how would Obamacare affect this woman if she were not privileged?

She specifically deserves the best care the U.S. can offer. Her brother on the other hand...No way!!!! She is the only Kennedy who is pro-life (with her husband).

Now, if I suggested that she be given government-enforced end-of-life counseling, such a comment would be considered not only bad form, but even possibly worthy of zotting.

So instead, I will point out that such “counseling” during such difficult times for a patient and their families is not only being pushed - hard - for the rest of us right now, it is being pushed - hard - by this particular family.

And I will also point out that this particular family has made sure the law they are pushing on the rest of us, would specifically not apply to them.

These are facts.

What Obama care???? Nothing has been passed and even if it had, it would not be in effect today!!! What an idiotic comment you are making? We probably won’t even have Obama Care. If some super liberal who wanted Obama Care was at the hospital (like her brother Teddy) than I would be cheerleading your post, but this woman does not deserve your snarky comments.

Old Joe was an abomination. When people talk about all the Kennedy family tragedies I think of the phrase “Sins of the Fathers visited upon their sons” .. he was a ba$tard.

Nonetheless, the K women for all their ‘good works’ were prima donnas who were not quite so great to people under their charge .. just typical Dem hypocrisy that bugs me. You see, it’s different to support unions and workers rights, so long as the worker isn’t a Kennedy employee, in which case said worker is expected to toil under difficult circumstances, suffer temperamental abuses, and receive relatively little financial reward.

Thank you...my last comment was harsh. I just wish people would direct these comments to her brother...the turd who was the worst Kennedy in the world. I apologize for my comments.

I guess it depends on what you mean by “family.” I highly doubt this lady or her husband support end-of-life counseling. Would you like to be judged by your sibling’s actions?

I agree but this women was born in 1912 or something like that. Do you think she was even allowed to express her displeasure to those Kennedy boys??? She probably would have ended up dead like Mary Jo. I am just saying that women in that time would deter to their husbands and other men in their lives.

I don’t have a thing v. Eunice Shriver. True, she survived that family, and that alone is an accomplishment. But she was NOT Mother Theresa. I don’t think a Catholic man or woman of her generation being pro-life is that extraordinary.

Her brother Ted, on the other hand, sold out on the issue for both political and personal reasons. It was politically expedient to support the NOW crowd and personally convenient to have readily available for any young women he might have knocked up. Not that any legal restrictions on abortion would have stopped him from getting it done. Those with resources and connections could always get abortions. And many did.

You are probably right about Eunice not being Mother Theresa and I probably give her too much credit, but I always liked her.

Send her to Canada. Maybe she can get some counseling on what to do.

To be even remotely connected with the Kennedy family and not have made a big stink - over the many years available to make such a stink - against their Leftist-democrat takeover politics, is to have consistently passively agreed with and supported it.

They are liberal democrats. They support Obamacare. My post references them, personally, for their actions and non-actions, and is based on fact.

They want Obamacare and it's death counseling during family health crises. They would be exempt from Obamacare and it's counseling during health crises, as well as it's limitation on available healthcare options they are now - at this moment - reviewing for their use, that we would NOT be offered.

These are FACTS.

Now, would YOU like to be judged on your straw-man arguments?
