I was briefly an AARP member (1 year) when I turned 50, some time ago. Once I found out what AARP really represented (leftwing policies that I vehemently disagreed with) I declined their invitations to re-up and have thrown their offers in the trash ever since.

Now that seniors can plainly see that AARP is just another leftist 'front' organization that cares nothing about the health and welfare of it's members if it interferes with the implementation of ideologically-driven (leftist) policies , I hope that their huge membership (and the money they rake in from 'dues') will quickly evaporate - and AARP's influence with it.

A question about AARP. They keep sending my wife and I AARP cards in the mail. We’ve never sent them a dime in the five or six years they’ve been sending them. Does anyone know if they might be carrying us on the books as a member and we don’t know it?

I can't say whether or not they have your name on their member lists, but do them a favor. Jot down a short note to them, such as "STOP THE SOCIALIZED HEALTH TAKEOVER!" and send it back to them, using their pre-paid, self-addressed envelope. Don't include your name, or any other contact information.

Actually you get better deals elsewhere. For example at Choice.com they have their Mature 50+ discount.
Wyndham.com with many chains offer Senior/AARP discounts. You don't need to belong to AARP.

Just called AARP. The gal insists that AARP is NOT supporting the president’s plan for reforming health care.

They said they sent a letter to Henry Waxman stating they are against any plan that would take money from Medicare and use that money for insurance for others.

I asked her if she was going to be turning me in to the White House for being against the President’s plan.

The lady wanted to send me a form on why they are supporting “reform”-—
I told her that anything they sent would be Communist propaganda, and that I would not even consider joining until AARP came out AGAINST Obamacare.
She then wanted my name.
I asked her if she was going to send an ACORN thug out to hurt me.

As a senior; this video shows the sppaling disreguard our government, our politicians and some of our organizations feel about us and I might add Americans as a whole.

They work for us not the other way around.
