I guess it's time to give up my $3 motel discounts. Actually you get better deals elsewhere. For example at Choice.com they have their Mature 50+ discount.
Wyndham.com with many chains offer Senior/AARP discounts. You don't need to belong to AARP.

That seems to be true. Every time I’ve got to travel for business, I notice that the group rate obtained for the conference is lower than the AARP rate. I’ve never gotten any benefit from my (now lapsed) membership.
