Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, "facts are stubborn things."

Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to "uncover" the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Maybe I’m not reading this correctly or my tinfoil isn’t on right, but it doesn’t seem like it is really aimed at compiling a list of enemies, but rather at seeing what information is out there to counter it. You could send the email with none of the previous names in it to the email listed.

Really it is a pretty good idea on that front. I’m sure a lot of the people working at the White House are probably somewhat isolated from these emails.

Or maybe I should assume the worst of this administration at every turn.

The only emails I've sent out on the subject is a link to Thomas.gov, along with instructions on accessing the actual text of the legislation. Citizens need to READ the bill (about 1400 pages plus) that their Congressman won't!

We’ll see if this backfires on them. Even with the “news” media covering for the administration, if enough voices are raised in opposition to these un-American tactics, they might have to back down.

Imagine if Bush operated like this. They would have impeached him. Too bad someone like Bob Dornan is not in Congress now. I’ll bet he would be filing impeachment papers.
