Beyond Red vs. Blue (Where Do You Fit? Take the Typology Test)

The typology study's finding of significant cleavages within parties not only runs counter to the widespread impression of a nation increasingly divided into two unified camps, but also raises questions about political alignments in the future. In particular, the study suggests that if the political agenda turns away from issues of defense and security, prospects for party unity could weaken significantly. As the following chapters detail, numerous opportunities exist for building coalitions across party lines on many issues currently facing the nation ­ coalitions that, in many cases, include some strange political bedfellows. Overall, there are many more shades to the American political landscape than just the red and blue dividing the Electoral College maps last Nov. 2.

Jackson did good on the banking issue. But I would never call myself a ‘Jacksonian’ and any politician who does ignores the genocide Jackson perpetrated on a sovereign nation. The supreme court ruled against Jackson and the state of Georgia, but that didn’t stop him.

Some historians contend Congressman David Crockett’s political career ended because of his support for the Cherokee against President Jackson’s removal plans. Crockett explains his position in 1834:
“.......His famous, or rather I should say infamous, Indian bill was brought forward, and I opposed it from the purest motives in the world. Several of my colleagues got around me, and told me how well they loved me, and that I was ruining myself. They said this was a favourite measure of the president, and I ought to go for it. I told them I believed it was a wicked, unjust measure, and that I should go against it, let the cost to myself be what it might; that I was willing to go with General Jackson in everything that I believed was honest and right; but further than this I wouldn’t go for him, or any other man in the whole creation.
I voted against this Indian bill, and my conscience yet tells me that I gave a good honest vote, and that I believe will not make me ashamed in the day of judgment.”

Yes, well rednecks can be useful idiots too. He proved that.
Actually he represented the free soilers, railroads and land barons who kept him in office and pretended to represent the ‘common man’...kinda like Obama. Kinda like the GOP pretends to represent the religious right. Crockett didn’t fall for it.

Politics as usual! Some things never change.

Ack, glad lunch was 2 hours ago.

Two of the ladies up stairs in my office have a pic of them with hillary, I asked how was she in person they both beamed “she was sooo nice and such a warm person”. I smiled and said “Uh huh”.

I like taking these stupid little tests. I’ve probably taken every one.

This one is poor for several reasons. I don’t know why this old chestnut was posted at this time.

I’ve gotten both enterpriser and disaffected (supposedly a “moderate” category but an anti-democrat one).

I see no freeper has reported getting the other 2 “conservative” categories “social conservative” and “big government “conservative””.

Same here, disaffected but some of the conclusions were exactly the opposite of what I chose.
