Atlas might not be able to shrug off new taxes to pay for Obamacare
The Collins Report ^ | August 4, 2009 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

Posted on 08/05/2009 6:07:03 AM PDT by jmaroneps37

Atlas may have too much to shrug off.

The Commerce Department says personal income fell 1.3% in June, the worst in four years.

The Internal Revenue Service reports a staggering 18% drop in tax receipts thus far this year, the biggest drop since Franklin Roosevelt’s Great Depression.

Conservative estimates of the nation’s deficit peg it at $1.8 Trillion dollars.

Individual taxpayer receipts have fallen by 22% compared to this point last year.

Corporate tax receipts are down 57% from last year.

For just the second time since 1940 Social Security tax receipts have dropped.

Unless something miraculous happens, Medicare tax receipts will fall for only the third time since the program was established.

Obama denies reality to get more of our money

Last weekend Obama Administration minions were out floating the idea that “We need to do something (read raise taxes) to clean up the mess Bush left us.”

The IRS reports the top ONE percent of individual taxpayers account for 40% of all income tax revenues received by the government. That 40% is larger than the 39% the lower 95% of taxpayers combined sent in.

The top one percent, 1.4 million people, earned over $410,000. They pay more than ALL 134 million individuals in the lower ninety five percent combined.

The bottom 40% of Americans pays NO federal taxes; nothing. Many of these people get “refunds” for money they never paid!

Obama wants to ignore these realities and raise taxes for the top two tax brackets. That will bring “rich” down to $250,000. Tax cheat Charlie Rangel, wants to place a 6 percent surtax on top of Obama’s increases and he has the power to do so. Liberals are impossible to embarrass.

Talk of Atlas shrugging may be optimistic. I hope the old boy can muster the strength.

It's not bad enough that these morons want to raise taxes during their recession, but the fact that we are hearing these plans from established tax cheats is maddening!

No way you can operate or expand a business in this political environment. Much worse before better. America has made the biggest mistake in its history and may not survive it.

Persevere. Have faith.

If the light of freedom is extinguished in the United States, there is no refuge.

This destructive path makes sens if you understand the premises behind it, as I mentioned in my Fourth of July Tea Party Speech

We’re now in the endgame of Antonio Gramsci’s and Saul Alinsky's heirs and disciples. These are the murderous great-great-great-great-grandchildren of the French Revolution, cold-eyed with contempt for you and yours; spiral-eyed crazy with hate for what you believe in and possessed of that utterly unappeasable appetite for controlling mankind.

Just as Hitler was completely candid in "Mein Kampf" about what he intended to do with Germany, the Jews and the world, so the Progressive Left has been completely up front about where they intend to take America, how they've planned to do it and what they're going to do once they get there.

So, when it comes to the Constitution and rule of law, it’s only a game - and when they're tired of it, they’ll not only sweep the pieces off the board, they’ll upend the table and put a bullet in you while they’re at it. As far as so-called 'progressives' are concerned, rules are for losers and history - god-awful bloody history - is my witness.

But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what Niccolo Machiavelli, 15th century advisor to Florentine nobles had to say when it came to conquering those who lived in relative freedom:

"When cities or provinces have been accustomed to live under a prince... they do not know how to live in freedom... and a prince can win them over with greater faculty and establish himself securely. But in republics, there is greater life...they do not and cannot cast aside the memory of their ancient liberty, so that the surest way to conquer them is to lay them waste."
--This, from Machiavelli's most famous work, The Prince

So don’t look now, but we’re all living in what's left of a seriously weakened Constitutional republic in which the collapse of the ideas underlying individual liberty is very far advanced.

Take a good long look at what’s happening now in America. Then dare to turn around and take another look. If what they're saying doesn't square with what they're doing; if it looks like there's an concerted effort to destroy our once Constitutional Republic and replace it with... something else - then you're probably right. None of what's happening today makes any sense unless you look at it that way - and then it makes a perfectly clear and terrible sort of sense, doesn't it?

By every measure of reason, this regime is working to destroy our republic for their own ends. Even at its worst, America with all its faults, is a paradise compared to the concentration camp culture of the Machiavellian Marxists who have gotten the upper hand today.

Atlas can move. Tax who?
Atlas can get by with no income for a while. Tax what?

You may be misunderstanding the act of Atlas shrugging. The heavier the burden that is placed on him by others, the easier it is for him to quit or “shrug” the world off of his shoulders and carry it no longer. These taxes along with the new environmental laws and new system of medicine will cause professionals, doctors, engineers, etc... to simply say “I will no longer let the leeches live off of my hard work all the while critising and punishing me for being ‘rich’.” They will walk away and “go Galt”.

It has made sense to me for 20 years but I am just a Kook. According to all my genius friends. They have some sort of mental block that stops the logical section of their brains from operating.

An excellent summation! I couldn't have phrased it better myself.

"If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater the effort the heavier the world bore down upon his shoulders - what would you tell him to do?"

I’d tell him to shrug - and then pick up a gun.

They refuse to acknowledge the weight of facts, truth history and logic. Because to do so would force them to see their own worldview as a shrieking, empty fraud.
