A White House spokesman said Tuesday that Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) decision to vote against Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is "disappointing."
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs criticized McCain, President Barack Obama's opponent last year, saying that Sotomayor is qualified to sit on the bench.
"It's disappointing that Sen. McCain came to a different conclusion a day after talking about bipartisanship," Gibbs told reporters in his West Wing office.

Barry voted against BOTH of Bush’s Supreme Court Picks (Roberts and Alito).
Mr. Gibbs I doubt Senator Mccain could give a rats butt what you think.
Name on thing Obama has done that can be considered ‘bipartisanship” since gaining office. Was it him saying ‘we won’ and put some ice on it ala Bill Clinton?
Guess McCain is not a complete Socialist.
Y’all remember that scene from “Airplane” where there was a HUGH line of people lined up to smack the hysterical lady to get her to shut up??
Any way we can send them to see “Beltway Bob” Gibbs?!?
The White House should avoid situations that will allow people to contrast President Obama and Senator McCain. It will only make the “buyer’s remorse” problem worse.
Other than giving their rhetorical take or being simply another politically oriented swipe, the opinion of/from the White House matters how exactly?
Gibbs lecturing anyone is a joke since Obama hasn't kept his word about anything. I don't think I would be critizing anyone else for 'talking about bipartisanship' since that's all Obama does is talk. I have yet to see him walk the walk.
“Guess McCain is not a complete Socialist”
I doubt McCain knows what socialist means. He said he knows nothing about the economy, yet his wife has owned a $100,000,000.00 business for years. Obtuse??
Gibbs...the gift that keeps on giving.
And Roberts and Alito were unqualified...sorry, Obama made his own bed when he voted against two highly qualified candidates. EVERY GOPer should vote against Sotomayer. I doubt McCain's motives though. He must fear re-election
Another example is Linda Douglas, former CBS/NBC 'news reporter' who joined team Obama is lecturing Drudge and his readers about the tape of Obama saying he wants a one payer system as if our ears don't work.
Spot on! Nice piece of bipartisianship by then-Sen Obama (I realize even that title is questionable)
You beat me to it. This is so friggin stupid.
Obama voted against both Roberts and Alito. He even spoke in praise of Roberts’ good qualifications as “95%” qualified to be on the Supreme Court, but said he didn’t have the heart or compassion or some such crapola for the remaining 5% of cases that the court rules on.
Is there any intellectual honesty left? A liberal seantor as Obama was, votes against confirming judges he deems too conservative, but rails against a more conservative senator who doesn’t want to confirm a judge he considers too liberal?
McCain is at “year 5 1/2”,
and is standing on the conservatives’ doorstep with flowers.
Once again, class. The definition of “bipartisanship” is doing what the Democrats want you to do...
Qualified?
So the lesson here is, if you are a minority with racial tendencies you can ascend to Supreme Court Judge in America?
Hey, is McCain finding his real place now?
