Giuliani: GOP lacks leader who can attack Obama's policies

Republicans should focus on President Obama's "left-wing" policies and not get sidetracked by "false" issues such as the validity of his birth certificate, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said on Wednesday.

Giuliani lamented the lack of a strong Republican leader who could direct the party's attention to what he called "the most left-wing agenda ... since Roosevelt."

"We don't have a real leader of the party right now because we don't have a president, we don't have presidential candidates," Giuliani said. "So everybody gets to speak their minds."

Giuliani, an unsuccessful candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, criticized Obama's domestic policies, including the economic stimulus package and proposed overhaul of the health care system, saying they expand government and threaten economic stability.

"I think he has gone much further to the left than I thought he would," Giuliani said.

He was less critical of Obama's foreign policy so far, agreeing with the increased military focus on Afghanistan and Obama's low-key approach to June's controversial Iranian presidential election and the subsequent demonstrations and government crackdown.

"I think some of my Republican colleagues sort of instinctively criticized that," he said of the Iran situation. "I'm not sure I wouldn't have done the same thing and not get America, you know, deeply involved in that."

Asked about questions by some conservatives about whether Obama is a U.S. citizen, Giuliani laughed and said, "We've got better things to do than that."

"I've actually seen a birth certificate that kind of satisfies me that he was born in the United States," he said. "I don't get the issue. I don't know why they're pushing it as far as they are. ... To pick false issues like that hurts us more than it hurts the other side."

Giuliani said one possible

how can he say that obamantion’s eligibility to serve is a “false issue” if NO ONE has ever seen the birth certificate or ANY other vital documents or know where he was born?

and pelosi swore under oath that he was eligible. How can this be a “false issue” unless we live in a society of Lies instead of the Truth?

We need to address the underlining problem that we have a COUNTERFEIT/FRAUD in office of the U.S.

It is not that can’t, it is that they won’t.

They lack the guts to draw blood. Only when there are blood and guts on the floor will the message get delivered.

Bear in mind that this is where you have to get to at this point: The burden would be on you to prove that the man was not born in this country. Without documentation. If you did so, Congress still wouldn't lift a finger, the press would care, and SCOTUS probably wouldn't remove him. Time to move on.

"...how can he say that obamantion’s eligibility to serve is a “false issue” if NO ONE has ever seen the birth certificate or ANY other vital documents or know where he was born? "

That's why Giuliani was out of the running early...he's a RINO. A consummate politician who won't speak his mind for fear that he might be wrong. He want's to consitently be right about everything, and say nothing.

If they want someone to speak the mind of the GOP, then throw Michael Steele out of the chairman position, and put Sarah Palin in there...then, we'll see fireworks and the bright, shining light of TRUTH.

People who post without reading the entire article often end up looking a little silly.

I disagree with Giuliani on virtually every social issue, but I still say your confused if you think anybody's a RINO over the birth certificate thing, which has zero to do with political philosophy.

BTW, can you name one major issue that Sarah Palin and Michael Steele differ on?

we have to agree to disagree on this. I believe the American people would rise up, riot and revolt when they discover that he is a fraud. I believe it would amount to a “sit down” or “stand up” or “don’t work”, or “boycott buying anything”, or other ploys which unions use. If Americans stopped paying taxes, that would work. In other words, I believe that when we discover he is lying fraud, that real Americans (not those pretenders in DC) will revolt.

Unfortunately, Rudy disqualified himself with his own social liberalism, why does he expect anyone to listen to him now?

>It’s wartime

But it's not, you know?
Democrats, Republicans,
we all live here and

for many decades
found ways to work together.
Modern metaphors--

politics as war
or as winner-take-all sports--
create a mindset

where people never
can be happy because we
never all will be

one or the other
party. We always will need
compromise and deals.

Huh? KIND OF satisfies you that he was born in the US? Isn't that the whole question here, no one is really sure? And we wonder why the GOP is circling the drain.

While we're at it I'd be curious to see BamBam's college transcripts and find out how he paid for college. Did he get in as a foreign student? If so that KIND OF satisfies me that he cannot legally be president.

But her supporters
are identifying her
with the image of

an endless whiner
overwhelmed by the pressures
of the modern world.

Yes her fans love her
but I don't think large masses
of voters will come.

Yes, he is. And I've sent support in a modest way because he's standing up and saying the right message.
