CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia has tapped stimulus funds to clean, paint, resurface and replace a total of 87 bridges that it could not otherwise get to in the next six years.
State highways officials say they also tried to distribute both the money and the square footage of new or improved spans evenly among West Virginia's three congressional districts.
Officials say this approach explains why an analysis of stimulus spending by The Associated Press found that only around one-third of the West Virginia bridges selected are considered structurally deficient or obsolete.

1) Spend large amounts of money to paint the bridges that don't need painting.
2) Spend large amounts of money to improve toilets in remote national forests.
3) Spend large amounts of money to hire a few people to watch how we spend large amounts of money.
3) Cut way back on defense contracts and throw a lot of good technical people out of work.
You CAN'T engage in this pattern if you are serious about helping the country. They are focused on destroying us.
Oklahoma ranks 49th in having some of the worst bridges in the Country — that’s what having Dem rule does to a state. We only won the Senate in 2008 for the first time ever in the history of Oklahoma and we have the worst roads and bridges — well almost the worst — one other state is behind us. In 2004 we took the House for the first time in 82 years and we have a RAT Governor.
At least WVA RATs took care of their roads and bridges unlike our DemocRATs who did NOTHING.
Which begs the question which WV Congressman put that into the bill and will the people of WV vote him out for wasting their taxdollars?
West Virginia getting lots of cash to do stuff they don’t need. Hmmm, you don’t suppose a certain former KKK member turned Senator from that state had anything to do with it???
That came with a price. Every road and bridge in WV is named after Sheets Byrd.
