President Obama's $787 billion stimulus plan is having little effect on job creation within the general-construction industry, the trade association for the sector said Thursday.

Proof positive that governments don't create wealth, they confiscate it.
I manage a moderate sized concrete batch plant in rural Alaska OUTSIDE of Anchorage and I can say with all honesty I have absolutely seen no stimulus, I am now down to two employees, a yard worker and a recently hired driver.
Our business is but a fraction of what it was a year or so ago.
NADA
ZILCH
NYET
NOTHING
Of course being a Republican state and having a Democratic/Muslim/Fascist as POTUS I surprised we don’t have people getting pulled from our beds and arrested.
It’s obvious the Democrats took Robert Reich’s advice.
Wow. Wasn’t China the primary customer for most concrete plants the past few years? I thought they were still doing massive projects that would create a major demand for concrete. Very telling. Good luck!
Almost everybody sees this as what it is: a one time shot in the arm, not a permanent boost. And that with one hell of a stinger tail to dodge. And so they react accordingly. No surprise that we don’t see a build-up.
China in a slump now.
Several Cement kilns (production facilities) have been shut down this year due to lack of demand. However, there is a massive facility that just came online in Missouri, that will make up the difference in production capacity.
Unfortunately, this increased efficiency has eliminated several hundred jobs.
This wasn’t really a stimulus anyway...it was Nancy Pelosi’s payback to Dem constituents.
Teachers, government workers, and unions.
At least the “tax cut” lets everyone buy an extra 12 pack each week.
Is there a tally showing how many jobs have been LOST because of the ‘stimulus’ bill?
China did use up most of the world rebar and portland cement a few years ago building the Three Gorges dam, what the problem here locally is that of the business that we usually see like new bridges, schools and such there is no expansion, no large concrete job orders, as to homeowners it appears that they just do not have the money or are instead renting equipment to mix their own concrete.
What product that we do sell and selling very well is concrete septic tanks.
With all the crap in the world lately you can’t beat the price of buying a concrete septic tank, cheaper than steel, fiberglass and even plastic for people here in Alaska.
When China builds, though, they build at the direction of government,
not because there is a demand for office space.
Therefore, most of those buildings will be “under-utilized” and a waste of resources.
One of the big reasons the stimulus hasn’t really accomplished much is that very little of the stimulus money has actually been spent.
The last report I saw stated that only somewhere around 15% of the $787 billion has been spent.
There is no doubt that Obama is using the stimulus money as a slush fund to pay off democrats, buy loyalty and patronage and get voters in line to support the democrats socialistic bills and proposals they are trying to shove down our throats.
And let’s not forget the information that was released back during the early days of the stimulus showing that much of it is being held in reserve with plans to spend it just before the 2010 and 2012 elections in an obvious plan to buy votes for democrats.

That's a fact. (Chi Metro Area. Tri County, Cook, DuPage & Will)
No(1) new Schools, Library's, Village Halls, or any type of Public Building has been 'hitting the streets' (out for bids). Not even additions or remodeling (retrofit) projects which have ALWAYS been good for Summer work. But not this year.I discount Road Projects as those are always going to go on funded by Highway Funds and Gas Taxes so what that FNF construction company says in the article is irrelevant IMO, as that's what they specialize in, building roads.
(1) No = very very few.
And what has been out there, the *winning* bids are so low it's ridiculous.
