CAMBRIDGE, MA - Sgt. James Crowley, the policeman at the center of Harvard professor Henry Gates' arrest controversy, has issued an official apology nearly two weeks after the incident occurred. In a written statement released through the Cambridge Police Media Office, Crowley admitted the entire controversy could have been avoided if he were not white, and that he should have called for backup from an African-American officer.

“and that he should have called for backup from an African-American officer”
He DID have back-up from a black officer.

ROTFL: Professor Gates was less than impressed with the apology. "He forgot he was white? I don't think so - I kept reminding him." Gates said

They say justice is blind, but perhaps blind police officers could ensure equal treatment to all, no matter the race of the suspects who get away.
In fact, the suspects wouldn't even have to get away, as long as they were really quiet.

How’s that for tongue in cheek.
Not every racially tinged encounter has to end up like Rodney King, for goodness sakes.

"I call at least one post not realizing this is satire before 15 posts... (lol)" Unfortunately, since O took office it has become increasing difficult to distinguish between reality and farce.

The problem is that, given the tenor of the times, this could very easily be non-satire!

Well why not ?
Maybe all dispatches should be color coded, after all, they try to roll women on calls involving women .
And maybe racists should be registered and monitored like the sex offenders are, so they can send in the appropriate Law Enforcement Appeasement Team [/SARC]

"I didn't stop to realize it was my race that was inflaming the situation." Crowley said in the statement. "I should have quietly allowed Mr. Gates to berate me until an officer of a less offensive race arrived, and for that, I apologize." Okay, okay . . it was at this point I realized this was satire.

I admit I thought it was real. This on the cusp of reading MASSresistance and the blogs about homo-activism in the same state.
Which sounds more ridiculous: Making sure the arresting cop is the same race as the perp, or a parade that celebrates pedophiles?

Don’t feel alone. Like I’ve said before, the line between fact and fiction has been all but obliterated. You really have to look hard to be sure.
The sad thing? If this was not satire, I wouldn’t be surprised.
To: chordmaster
I should point out that this might not be as satiric as it seems, since we don’t know what will happen at the Crowley-Gates-Obama beer garden Thursday. The MSM will probably claim Crowley apologized for being white, and Gates will undoubtedly claim victory over the white debbil, while Obama looks on approvingly from his heavenly throne.
