In a sign of the effect the nationwide Tea Party movement is having on politics, both the Associated Press and Barack Obama mentioned throngs of protesters outside the Obama town hall meeting held this morning in Raleigh:
The welcome was in contrast to criticism Obama met as his motorcade made its way from the airport to Needham B. Broughton High School. Thick groups of protesters held signs that said "Obamacare is Socialism," "Politicians + Health Care Disaster," and "Hands Off Our Health Care."
In an ad lib from his prepared remarks, Obama mentioned the protesters he saw in Raleigh on his way to the town hall:
"There were some folks cheering, and then were some folks with some signs."
When your opponents acknowledge you, you know you're being effective. Good job Raleigh tea partiers!

No numbers have been cited for the protesters, nor are there any wire service photos. However, I'll take the description of 'thick groups of protesters' as an impressive turnout.

AP magic camera lens: becomes telephoto for clarity in snapping anti-GOP protests, becomes fuzzy wide-angle when snapping anti-Dem/Obama types.

.. nor are there any wire service photos. If this was really a Tea Party event we won't have to worry about AP photos. The Tea Party Photos will show up soon enough.

Its just the beginning Obama. The american people are pissed, and that includes libs who voted for you but who also have the sense to know their health care and freedom is at jeopardy too by your fascist legislation.

I love it but you know it's not enough to heckle the Idiot, the participants should be figuratively tar and feathered. Make the puppets run the gauntlet leaving these events, keep it legal, keep it as civil as the law allows, but I see nothing wrong with trying to get our fellow citizens thinking the right way and show them that them supporting a Marxist will not do.

We’ve got to keep showing up with very explicit signs wherever BO shows his face. We, the people, are getting to him, slowly but surely.
