Fox News commentator calls Barack Obama racist

A Fox News Channel commentator, Glenn Beck, said he believed President Barack Obama was a racist.

Beck made the statement during a guest appearance on the "Fox & Friends" morning show. He said Mr Obama had exposed himself as a person with "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture".

His remarks came during a discussion over Mr Obama's reaction to the arrest of the Harvard University scholar Henry Louis Gates junior

Mr Gates is black and was arrested for disorderly conduct by a white policeman over a misunderstanding about a break-in at his home.

A spokesman for Mr Obama said the White House had no comment.

Beck's statement was challenged on the air by Fox's host, Brian Kilmeade, who noted that most of the people who work for the nation's first black president are white.

"I'm not saying he doesn't like white people," Beck said. "He has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist."

Beck wondered, during the discussion, what other president would immediately jump on the police for their actions in the case.

Mr Obama said in a news conference that he believed the police acted stupidly in the case, but later backtracked from the statement and invited Mr Gates and the police officer, Sgt James Crowley, to the White House for a conciliatory meeting later this week.

Bill Shine, Fox News senior vice president of programming, told the TVNewser web site that Beck had "expressed an opinion which represented his own views, not those of the Fox News Channel. And as with all commentators in the cable news arena, he is given the freedom to express his opinions."

What is the big deal Obama is a racist..I guess you could say Glen Beck is the only one with balls on any of the networks,he calls it like it is..I try to watch his show every day if I can’t I tape it for another time..I like Glen because he always holds my interest and has great guest that theach me a lot about what these criminals are doing to oue country..

We need only look as far as Obamalamadingdong's response to the Cambridge Police thing to see clear evidence that he has strong prejudices against not only white people, but police officers as well. Oh, and let's not forget him saying his white grandmother was just acting like "a typical white person"......

I've often wondered about women in broadcast media. For decades they have wanted to be taken seriously as men are...they've wanted to be taken seriously and thought of to have gotten to where they are by their intelligence, and not by their "sex appeal." So what do they do? They wear skirts shirt enough to barely cover their front and backsides, flaunting themselves in front of the cameras, and then cry rivers of tears and scream NOT FAIR when they are "maligned" as sex objects. Go figure....

I saw a report by CNN back in 2008 talking about how google had 900,000 hits for the words OBama Antichrist.

I agree that Obama has a low opinion, or at that very least, holds onto some very negative sterotypes of and resentment of white people.

There is no way anyone could sit and listen to Jeremiah Wright’s anti-white, anti-semitic, anti-American hate speech for 20 years and not be a racist, or at least have no problem with racism.

The one thing I did not like, in Beck’s comment, was his reference to “the white culture”. In my view, Obama has a disdain for “American culture”, which people of all ethnic background participate in and contribute to.

That may well have been what Beck meant. If it was, I’d like to hear him clarify that point.

I beg to differ. Obama has attacked everything "white". Rarely, if ever, does he attack any minority ethnic culture - like hip hop, drugs, promiscuousness, etc.

Although many may not accept it, the U.S. has been a predominately white society. Obama wears that chip on his shoulder for all to see.

But is it not OBVIOUS that he is a racist? He admitted as much in his book, when he talked about the distaste he felt for his own mother's race. He admitted as much in his book, when he told of how he broke with his white New York girlfriend because she was appalled by a play they both attended which mocked and denigrated whites. Obama thought the play was great.
Did not Obama sit for 20 years shouting “amen” to the paranoid racist rambling of the Rev. Wright? Did he not dismiss his own grandmother—the woman who largely raised him—as a “typical white person?” Did he not order fellow racist Holder to drop all charges against the club wielding Black thugs who intimidated white voters in Pennsylvania? Did he not nominate the overt anti-white racist Sotomayor to a seat on the Supreme Court? And in the Gates affair, did he not, while admittedly ignorant of the facts, reflexively side with the Black guy against the white guy? What Beck says is beside the point: it's obvious to anyone who is even half paying attention that this guy is racist.
