"I got mad when I, as a national security adviser to the president of the United States, I went down to meet somebody at Reagan National Airport and nobody recognized -- nobody thought I could possibly be the national security adviser to the president.
I was just a black guy at Reagan National Airport. And it was only when I went up to the counter and said, 'Is my guest here who's waiting for me?' did somebody say, 'Oh, you're General Powell.'
It was inconceivable to him that a black guy could be the national security adviser."

I know how to straighten em out!
So did I until about half way through the first time I heard him speak.
Elitist alert!
Cue the violins
Son you can't have that job it is going to that guy because he is black
but but but, I got all A's he got a D
yea so he is black now shut up you can't have that job-——————————————————————————
Son you can have that job based on your great grades
but but but why is he getting it I am black , so what if I got D's I am black now give me a job or I'll call bozo , jackson and sharpton and we'll cry racism He is losing it for sure, so now it is racist becasue they did not know him.
Little did they know how right they were. You ought not to have been the national security adviser to ANY president.
Wasn’t it 9 out of 10 people could not recognize a photo of Dick Cheney on Sean Hannity’s Man on the Street? Were those people racist?
Uh, if he is waiting for him, then he is there.
He’s their useful idiot, and this is the week they need him to try to be useful to them, while the beer at the WH is getting cold.
Rat-jerks.
This half century long racist drumbeat is ... FINALLY beginning to fray the nerves of Middle America.
We're mad as hell and ... WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE.
Amen, bro.
What an ingrate.
I think Powell got pissed off because Gates was more racist than he was.
That’s right Colon, down with whitey!!
That’s kinda hard to believe...they didn’t recognize Colin Powell?
Whew. That was a long sentence. I probably should've broken it up somehow.
this guy is NUTS! he could have been white and not recognized....what is it with these black “celebrities”? they need to get a life.
And I’ve been a victim of gender profiling many, many times. Cry me a river. Moveon.org
This is why affirmative action has to go. So long as it's the law of the land, when a person of color reaches a certain level of success, people can always wonder if they got their merely because someone was trying to satisfy a diversity goal.
I have no way of knowing if Powell rose the levels he did because of the color of his skin, but it's a legitimate question if affirmative action is legal. I do think however, he get's WAY too much credit for the first Gulf War, and he was highly overrated as SOS, IMHO.
Yeah? You know what they make me do at the airport? They make me take off my stinky shoes and belt and pants and shirt and underwear and throw it all in a stupid little plastic tray and feed it through some stupid x-ray machine.
Well, actually, I take my shirt and pants and underwear off voluntarily. What can I say? I just like going around naked.
What kind of profiling is it when a group of teenage girls are pulled over and have their car searched by local police (35 years ago, no probable cause). What kind of profiling is it when a highway patrolman pulls a 20 something blonde over for speeding (when she wasn't)and tries to make a date--scarey when you are in the country--what's the charge--driving while blonde? What kind of profiling is it when local police stop an out of state car--that happens in a lot of small communities, to all races, but I guarantee if it is a black, they think racism.
My point, well answered by a couple of black Cambridge police on TV today is that every incident between black and white is not racial profiling.
These problems speak to hate crime legislation--a crime is a crime and hate is involved in all crimes. It is not reserved for blacks and homosexuals. A wrongful stop is a wrongful stop, no matter the color or gender involved.
Off my soapbox for now!

Sorry that you didn't get your butt kissed, Colin. What a prima dona.
