How Will White House Spin Suds Session?
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Now that’s it been announced that Pres. Obama will get together Thursday with Sgt. James Crowley and Prof. H.L. Gates for the proverbial beer, PBO’s spin doctors are surely feverishly at work. The White House must be looking at the event as the last best chance to salvage something from the president’s gaffe. Not only did PBO’s assertion that the police acted “stupidly” kill whatever momentum health care reform might have had, it tarnished Obama’s image as a post-racial healer.

So surely the likes of Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs are busily orchestrating the theatrics and optics of the suds session. I’m pretty sure an extended game of beer pong with comely White House co-eds is not in the cards, but let’s imagine some of the issues and outcomes they are grappling with.

Who is going to invite Obama and Crowley to his house so the two of them can have a few beers and discuss Obama's smear of Crowley on international TV?

Obama has succeeded in portraying himself as an arbitrator, rather than a perpetrator.

Doesn't the President of the USA maybe have something more to do?? If he's gonna do this...do it privately. Will Obama and Gates send Crowley out for hamburgers??

Feel sorry for Crowley. Bet this beer cr** will be the low point in his life. Disgusting!!

Obama gets to play his favorite role at the White House.

Glad-hander-in-chief.

This is insane. First, the TOTUS gets involved in something that was none of his business. Then he gets involved in something that is none of his business.

But, then again, his entire administration has been one of getting involved in things that are none of his business.

Gates is still going around claiming he was the victim of a rogue racist cop.

The entire police community is pissed, and rightfully so.

Crowley will become another useful idiot.

This farce will score more negatives for Obama. It will look like the phoniest photo-op ever. If Obama says one peep about race relations, it will turn more voters off.

Don’t fear it.

I know this is going to sound silly, but a Republican President would be portrayed as being totally irresponsible by promoting drinking as a way to solve a dispute.

An example of how the racial issues in this country can be repaired. Just three men getting together over a beer and how wonderful that we have a President that would take his time to help mend the racial divide.

Crowley is out of his friggin’ mind for ever agreeing to give Hussein and Gates a photo op at the White House.....or should I say the Black House?

I expect to see Crowley lectured.....given his “teachable” moment....by these two race pimps.

I agree. Not sure I can articulate the dynamics, but it doesn’t look good. It will not undo the damage that Zer0 and Gates have done.

As for Crowley, when the President asks you as a police office to the White House, it’s almost unthinkable to say “No.”
