Intensity matters in politics and, at times, is more important than approval.
It may be, and the ratings certainly suggested this was the case, that the television viewing public preferred Jay Leno to David Letterman when choosing which late-night talk show to watch. From a political standpoint, however, it would do a candidate for elective office little good at the polls to announce he was a "Leno person" or to denounce Letterman. Preference in late-night talk show hosts is simply not an issue on which people vote.
On the other hand there are issues which, while they matter little to the vast majority of the electorate, are of great importance to a minority of voters; indeed these issues do a lot to shape the attitudes of these voters and to direct their behavior in the voting booth.
The issue of Barack Obama's citizenship falls into that latter category.
There are those who, despite ample evidence to the contrary, maintain that Obama was born outside the United States. And that, as such, he is not a natural-born citizen of this country and is not eligible to hold the high office he now occupies. These peoplewhom my bloleague Robert Schlesinger calls "birthers"despite some fairly convincing details on the other side of the argument, argue that the copy of Obama's birth certificate that has been made available for public examination is either an outright fraud or some kind of forgery.

Major Stefan Fredrick Cook refused to comply with his deployment Orders. The Orders were rescinded.
Please appreciate that that was a very big deal that somehow was not kept a secret.
Why did they cancel his Orders?
This a potentially very explosive issue. And, BTW, it is exploding.
If obama does that he will look petty and venal. Spending a million dollars and wasting countless man hours fighting this and then springing it with a gleeful smile will show him to be the little child that he is. Such a scheme would backfire big time.
The problem is...if there have been hundreds of posts on this subject...then tell me the facts since you know them.
Is there a statute that governs this..and on whose authority would the procedure have been changed?
Surely you know this since you said there have been hundreds of posts about this.
I don’t trust WND since they or someone on their site posting an article...claimed that Obama said he was born at Queen’s hospital in a certain speech...that is a flat out lie.
You said — So?...Once the conservatives fix this, what will be the new outrage for the Marxists?
—
LOL... oh... the problems never end... :-)
And the problem is really *much much deeper* than Marxist, liberal and leftist leaders. I’ve said this before... The *real problem* is *our society* — itself. It’s the “voters” who are the problem. Face it, the voters are the ones who end up electing these people.
In the simplest terms, if we had more conservatives, we wouldn’t lose elections... :-)
Yeah, that’s a real simple idea — but — it points out the *true problem* — which is, inside our own society, we’re not generating enough conservatives, who then can go out and vote in larger numbers than the liberals and leftists. And also from which we can get a pool of leaders who can be elected.
I know people concentrate on elected officials — but — we really should be concentrating on “growing more conservatives”...
That means shutting down the government K-12 Marxist indoctrination camps, and opening tuition-free conservative private schools.
I don’t want to appear rude, but if you don’t want to trust WND on this, as well as freepers who first noted the change, then I don’t know what to tell you. But if you google “department of homelands birth certificate” you will find much more on it.
This one has a cached file of DHHL’s site, as do I.
In a perception vs. reality issue, perception becomes the reality. It isn't the dems bringing up this issue, so who is, aliens?
Frankly, President Obama is acting like a 15 year old smart ass. It is not becoming of a man let alone president to act this way. He needs to show the certificate and quit spending money on lawyers. Saaaaaay, is it his own money for the lawsuit? or is the money from his campaign cash?
Well, I’m pretty sure you’re not going to shut them down, so I think it’s going to be a situation where you go alongside them and then grow enough to eventually replace them.
I mean... that’s the way it will actually work. You’re never going to get them shut down.
ALSO..., and this is a big one for me... it’s going to take (from my firm belief) a strong belief and adherence to what the Bible says and believing what God says in that Bible about all aspects of what He tells us.
The reason why people have “turned away” from out founding fathers and the kind of government that they set up — is because people have turned away from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, whom the founding fathers knew.
Until the people get back to that adherence to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the Word of God — you’re going to continue to have that kind of “indoctrination” that you’re talking about.
Freepers and bloggers and Rush and Savage and PUMAs and Dobbs and independents.
Oh, he wouldn't have a gleeful smile in public and wouldn't have to work very hard convincing people he was the victim. I am sure you haven't forgotten that he's still got the press and the bully pulpit.
Wnd is claiming they are no longer going to produce the long form. I can forsee many problems with this since Hawaii had the unique system to let foreign borns get their birth certificate.
I didn’t read the comments about the Judge like you did. I read it that he will let the chips fall where they may, and follow the law. He will not be bullied. Did you really believe a Judge and Marine would undercut the president to make some birthers happy?
It's still a binary world in politics and, as of now, independents are neither a party nor associated with democrats.
Government schools need two things: Students and money.
I firmly believe that parents ( even liberal parents) are desperate for alternatives to the government schools. Just look at the long, long waiting lists for voucher and charter schools. The lotteries that are held every year for scarce seats at voucher, charter, and magnet schools are pitiful to see.
If our colleges and universities can have endowments in the billions surely conservatives could do this for private conservative education foundations. These conservative foundations could award grants to conservative teachers who would open tuition-free one room school houses, mini-schools, or homeschool co-ops. The foundations could certify the teacher, test the students, and approve the curriculum.
I believe parents would flock to these tuition-free conservative schools. In doing so, the government schools would be starved of both students and money. The parents could be organized to politically drive a stake through the government schools at the voting booth.
What is needed, as you so aptly pointed out are two things:
**We must grow new young conservatives
** Nation-wide repentance and a return to a solid belief in the God of our Fathers.
He will use his Marine experience to be completely honest and forthright in upholding the law! Honest truth is what **all** Marxists fear.
PUMAs are dems, Dobbs is a dem, many freepers are not GOPers, etc etc.
In the Keyes case ( with Orly Taitz) in California, U.S. attorneys showed up in Judge Carter's court.
I strongly suspect that the taxpayer paid for those U.S. attorneys and not Obama.
Yeah, I think this is something for the long-haul, and that’s what we need. I know many look for quick fixes, but with our society the way it is, I don’t think there are any quick fixes for it. Raising a new generation, while we continue to fight the battle today, is what it’s going to take. And hopefully that new generation is going to be large enough...
