The Obama Birth Certificate Issue is a Dangerous Distraction for Republicans (so touching)
US News and World Report ^ | 7/27/09 | Peter Roff

Intensity matters in politics and, at times, is more important than approval.

It may be, and the ratings certainly suggested this was the case, that the television viewing public preferred Jay Leno to David Letterman when choosing which late-night talk show to watch. From a political standpoint, however, it would do a candidate for elective office little good at the polls to announce he was a "Leno person" or to denounce Letterman. Preference in late-night talk show hosts is simply not an issue on which people vote.

On the other hand there are issues which, while they matter little to the vast majority of the electorate, are of great importance to a minority of voters; indeed these issues do a lot to shape the attitudes of these voters and to direct their behavior in the voting booth.

The issue of Barack Obama's citizenship falls into that latter category.

There are those who, despite ample evidence to the contrary, maintain that Obama was born outside the United States. And that, as such, he is not a natural-born citizen of this country and is not eligible to hold the high office he now occupies. These people—whom my bloleague Robert Schlesinger calls "birthers"—despite some fairly convincing details on the other side of the argument, argue that the copy of Obama's birth certificate that has been made available for public examination is either an outright fraud or some kind of forgery.

That’s the very thing that I have been doing — here on Free Republic — is the raising the awareness part of it, in showing why Obama does not have to produce his birth certificate. I’ve posted that many times in many places. This is part of that organizing that you’re talking about.

I’ve pointed out that there is no legal requirement for a candidate to produce his birth certificate and unless there is a state law passed (in respective states, just a few of them) — the birth certificate will not be produced.

So, in that way I have been organizing a campaign. The first step of a campaign is for FReepers to be aware of the facts that cause the problems.

Another fact that FReepers need to be aware of is that Obama did swear an oath that he is a natural born citizen and that he is qualified under the Constitution.

Part of organizing that kind of campaign here on Free Republic is to get people to realize that this is all that Obama has to do to qualify. Once that people here realize that this is all that is required to do — then they understand the reason for why things happened the way they did.

*This* is the organizing of that very thing that you’re talking about. It’s the getting out of the facts and the reasons for why this has happened....

The Judge CANNOT and SHOULD not use his Marine experience to color his judgement in any way.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

He will use his Marine experience to be completely honest and forthright in upholding the law! Honest truth is what **all** Marxists fear.

The computer-generated “Certification of Live Birth” was first used in November 2001 to allow the State of Hawaii to pull up birth records quicker for people requesting a “birth certificate” in person. At the very bottom of the form are the words, “This copy serves as prima facia evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding.” [HRS 338-13(b), 338-19].”

However, despite this written notice on the form, some Hawaii state agencies do not accept the “Certification of Live Birth” as irrefutable verification of Hawaiian birth. There have been numerous cases when the Hawaii Family Court System required more detailed data for paternity suits. Additionally, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands provides the following guidelines to Hawaiian natives applying for Hawaiian Home Lands homestead:

The primary documents used to show you are of age and a qualified native Hawaiian are:
- A certified copy of Certificate of Birth;
- A certified copy of Certificate of Hawaiian Birth, including testimonies; or
- A certified copy of Certificate of Delayed Birth.

“In order to process your application, DHHL utilizes information that is found only on the original Certificate, which is either black or green. This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth (a computer-generated printout). Submitting the original Certificate will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL.”

After 3 days she does not see the connection between meeting the constitution qualification of “natural born” and showing your birth certificate. Let’s pass some more laws to be ignored.

why Obama does not have to produce his birth certificate.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Gee! Judge Carter didn't say that. In fact he has plainly stated that the facts of the case **will** be heard and that he will not entertain any motions for dismissal or delay.

No... it’s the recognition of the problem that we have and this is the first thing that has to be done in organizing this kind of campaign.

And I do appreciate your support in mentioning that this should be organized here on Free Republic. It certainly should be. And I do intend to keep organizing for this kind of thing.

That does included making sure that people know why this happened, the reasons for it.

I think that this thing does need to be more visible than it is and organized a lot better than it has been. So, I’m going to try to organize this for posting a lot better than I’ve done in the past....

Thanks for encouraging me for doing *organizing* here... I’m going to take that one to heart...

Then if you knew about his..why didn’t you get the info to Lou Dobbs because now it is gone. I don’t even see where WND listed the website.

Here it is.
http://hawaii.gov/dhhl/applicants/Loaa%20Ka%20Aina%20Hoopulapula.pdf

And who authorized the change. Have you posted hundreds of times about that? Is there a statute about this? What is the relevant statute?

Provide more info if you think you know it all at this point.

They have changed that requirement..all of a sudden. So I am wondering on whose authority?

WND is claiming that Hawaii will no longer produce the long form. Is this true? What will Family court do now?

You’re talking about two different things here. I’ve said all along that there is no legal requirement for a candidate to produce his birth certificate. And that’s true. No one has any law that requires this — so that you can go to that law and say “You have violated this law and a judge is going to order you to comply with that law” — when that person is a candidate.

That’s what is being talked about here...

But, right now, we’re not talking about a candidate and an election that is happening right now. This was the thing that *should have been in place* — *before* the election. The election is over; and Obama is the President right now. That law should have been there — but it was not there.

And thus, that’s why people have to be aware that there is *no law requiring a candidate to produce his birth certificate*....

The different matter, which can come up, is that a judge can order something for purposes of discovery or in connection with some part of a case (whether that will happen or not, I don’t know — but it hasn’t happened in over a year now...). And if something is brought out for discovery — this still does not change the fact that a candidate *is not required* by law to produce his birth certificate.

Since nothing has come of all the court cases in over a year of this — I don’t have any faith in the system producing a birth certificate.

So, at any rate, we can have another election, and another candidate, and another birth certificate issue (and even Obama once again, this next election) and *still* there will be *no law* requiring a candidate to produce his birth certificate (even if one is ordered here)...

Thus, the *problem* still remains, despite this case....

Because I had no idea Dobbs was remotely on our side until last week.

The DHHL changed their website sometime in June.

Here is one of several places it was covered:

The matter should be allowed to drop and the opposition should focus its efforts on winning the policy debates. Walk OR chew gum!

You said — Organize it then

I have to thank you for the very good suggestion there. Just that one comment — alone — has enthused me here on Free Republic. And you’re right, I need to get more organized on this subject and get more information out to people here.

I’m going to start to get more organized, instead of a hit and miss type of thing and just posting here and there. You’re right in that I should hit them all and get this information out to as many people as possible in order to organize for the state laws in every state...

Thanks very much. It’s encouraging to hear good comments like that...

I agree...Candidates must be required to prove their qualifications for the office.

So?...Once the conservatives fix this, what will be the new outrage for the Marxists?

Ultimately our government rests upon a foundation of honest good will. Marxists are liars who will do anything to corrupt the system. I see that we a in real trouble here.

This article reminded me of what I posted last year ... it means nothing once he was elected, should have been challenged before. I listed to Dobbs, HE DOES NOT BELIEVE BAMBI IS ANYTHING BUT American. I heard on Chrissy’s show that the WH is very glad to have this come up, a distraction to make GOP like look nuts.

"I'm just touched, almost to the point of tears, how suddenly the MSM is so concerned about the GOP and its future success."

I never realized how much they worried about our welfare. Touching isn't it.
