WASHINGTON (AP) - Despite their denials, influential Democratic Sens. Kent Conrad and Chris Dodd were told from the start they were getting VIP mortgage discounts from one of the nation's largest lenders, the official who handled their loans has told Congress in secret testimony.
Both senators have said that at the time the mortgages were being written they didn't know they were getting unique deals from Countrywide Financial Corp., the company that went on to lose billions of dollars on home loans to credit-strapped borrowers. Dodd still maintains he got no preferential treatment.

The good news is that the AP included the party in the first sentence.
Also, since this is my first thread, please let me know if I did anything incorrectly.
I’ll betcha the AP is sniffing the birther downfall of the abamanation... what a scoop!!
You did just fine! Better than I do! ;-)
Perfectly done.
Outstanding job of posting.
I bet AP was working overtime trying to figure a way to spin this in a positive lite for Conrad/Dodd.
I predict a Breaking News story from the AP within 24 hours of "Shocking" new information about the Bush administration trying to kill terrorists, and how this could result in indictments, and proves the CIA lied, and so on and so forth.
Senator Dodd, meet The Bus.
But will Harry Reid be man enough to dish it out?
Welcome to Free Republic.
You done good!
Vote all ‘em out of office!
Why was the testimony secret? Did it get leaked or was it supposed to be revealed? IF it was leaked I am surprised AP reported on it.
Will this revelation matter?? I hope the public cries foul over it.
Perfect post and brought a smile to my face as AP articles are definitely changing. Wonder what is going on with them?
LOL!
Looks good to me. Already posting like a pro!
Great first thread, but what do I know. I just did my first thread a few days ago, thanks to the help of Freeper Jeff Head. Check mine out. Search for Gatitude Campaign or search for me. FreeRepublic is the best.
Additionally, CNN money has come out with article saying that obamacare is not good.
TERM LIMITS! No one should stay there that long no matter which party they are in. They start to believe the office belongs to them and can be handed down to family members like an inheritance!
I hope they have decided to reject editorial based reporting in favor of fact based.
It could be cover for Obama.
Obama is just as guilty as the rest of them for the housing meltdown, if not more so.
ACORN are OBAMA buddies and heavily pressured banks to loan to those who couldn’t pay back.
Obama as Senator and candidate was always blaming greedy business and lack of regulation under Bush, and covered up the real culprits.
With the public losing trust in Pelosi and the Dem House and in Obama the Dem President, and with 60 Dem Senators, I suspect the AP of directing voter ire at a few expendable Dem Senators, thinking that will appease voter anger and direct it away from Obama and Nancy (They don’t want House Dems swept from power.).
