Sunday, about 100 people rallied in front of the mall to support Spivack and his right to free speech.
He opened his Free Market Warrior kiosk last spring, selling such items as Impeach Obama bumper stickers and baby bibs that say, My parents chose life. Thanks Mom and Dad!
Spivack said he's found other stores in the mall selling T shirts and other merchandise with offensive slogans and feels he's being targeted purely for politic reasons.
Since the controversy arose, he said his business has picked up.......

They only stated that two protesters attended. And, frankly, these two weren't the best and the brightest FR would have to offer.
What's worse is that the tone of the piece was "Look at the idiot Republicans". Kind of a tongue-in-cheek hit piece.
I hate the MSM.
Serously, the fanciest mall in town is channeling the 3rd world. My wife is afraid to go there after recently being harrassed by "youths".
They have about 398 properties worldwide. I don’t think we’d be very successful directly attacking Simon.
The key, I think, would be to bombard store in their malls, starting with book stores, and then stores known to be Conservative friendly.
They actually said that only two people showed? Which news outlet was this?
The news article estimates 100, while the news bites on WBT has been saying “dozens.”
So they can post signs saying NO BLACKS ALLOWED? I think NOT!
I won't be going there this year. I also wrote Simon Properties a note, explaining my position. No response yet. I'm not holding my breath.
This was the local Foxnews in Greensboro. Channel 10. http://www.myfox8.com/
Direct quote: "Only two people attended the protest". To Fox's credit, both were interviewed.
Both of them looked like decent people, but were I a little more to the left of the spectrum...my comment would have been "Rightwing Moonbats". They weren't put in a very flattering light.
Everything else from last night's 10 o'clock news was there....just nothing on the Mall Protest.
I'll grant that I didn't look all that hard...couple of minutes' worth of skimming....but I still thought that it was interesting.
Great picture!
Many thanks. I’ve always been a sucker for such set ups.
The article cited a reference to “free speech”. This is not a “free speech” issue.
He may, as you state, have a lease violation civil complaint if they have violated the lease in some way.
Join Mo & Thousands of Others July 31 at Concord Mall to Give Free Market Warrior a Rousing Last Day Send Off
UPDATE
Yep, meet Mo next Friday in Concord at the Free Market Warrior Kiosk,if you can find Mo amongst the thousands of others there to make this the best day of the life of Free Market Warrior. How? By spending money at the Free Market Warrior Kiosk and no where else at the mall! Rub it in thoroughly by bringing your own food and drink and eating it at the food court. Sure, they may ask you to leave, but just be polite and leave. Mo will be the man woman child space alien with the "MO" hat and shirt. Mo will be at the food court at 1:30PM. Be there with your own "Mo" shirt to make it interesting. Most of all, spend a few bucks at the Free Market Warrior Kiosk. JenniferIbanez is invited to be guest of honor since she made the place world famous and deserves the credit for doing just that.
This is an update to an earlier posting and it will be updated at that posting a well since the original article seems to be getting lots of hits.
HINTS AND SUGGESTIONS FOR THE July 31 Gathering of Warriors At the Concord Mall.
The General Scoop:
Hopefully enough people will show up to make the point that they are not happy with the fascist like "ruling" to kick out Free Speech Warrior on the last day of their lease, July 31, 2009. The mall opens at ten, so Mo guessing the best time to get there would be around ten A.M. to get best choice of whatever they sell. It's a good guess that no matter how many people show up, the kiosk will be sold out before the end of the working day. If a thousand people spend a mere ten bucks at Free Market Warrior, that's a lot of money. But if five thousand people spend ten bucks at Free Market Warrior...........well, you get the idea. Consider that each dollar you spend is a vote, and in this case it's legal to vote more than once. You spend, you vote.
Ideas For How To "Protest" Without Signs, Banners Or Breaking Things (Leave that to the G-20 Protesters in Pittsburgh)
OK, you are at the mall, you bought a five dollar bumper sticker and a baby bib. It's hot. You want a drink. OK, you brought your own bottled water, Pepsi, or Organic Liquid Sugar Free Flavored Mineral Water. That solves that problem. But if you want to make a point, go to the Food Court and drink your water and if you brought it, eat your lunch, dinner, or the road kill you picked up on the way to the Mall. (Mo lives cheap, so knows about such things). If you are asked to leave by security, just leave. Be polite. Offer the security person that extra unopened bottled water you have there just to show there are no hard feelings. Thank the person and go about your business.
Random Stuff
If you are coming from a long way off, wear something that makes it obvious that you came a long way just to get there for this event. A great thing to do if there is a large enough crowd would be to pitch in to either buy gas for the person who came the longest distance or a good item from the FTW Kiosk. It's all up to "you", but Mo thinks this is a good idea.
The most important thing is to be on your best behavior here. Don't give anyone any excuses to say you did bad or destructive things. If there are people there perhaps protesting for the mall, just be nice to them. Heck, give them that bottled water you have handy. Don't yell at those people, that's exactly what they want. If you can engage them enough in conversation, who knows, they may have lunch with you. Just be nice. You'll be amazed how much it disarms people who are looking for a fight.
Even if no one shows up, Mo will be at the food court at 1:30 P.M. with both a Mo hat and Mo T shirt. It may be screened, airbrushed or even hand written, but if you look hard, you may meet Mo in person. If you want to make it interesting, create your own "Mo" shirt.
Cya there!!!!
When I worked for Jesse Helms in the ‘78 campaign, my boss Gary Gilbert always referred to Chapel Hill as “Little Moscow”. I’m glad to see some good rightwingers are making some waves there.
and CARY, NC is

Yankees
That's basically correct, as long as they abide by applicable laws and the terms of the lease. But potential customers also can do what they like as well and are free to tell the managers and owners of the other stores at the mall why they are no longer spending their money there.
Good idea! I have told them of my plans to boycott the local mall here. They have a form to contact SPV on the menus.
It is not a free speech issue and misusing the “free speech argument” in this situation does not help.
It is at most, a civil matter, at least, it may be absolutely nothing.
As far as the “customer” argument goes, any customer at any time may choose not to shop anywhere. What does that have to do with anything?
