Obama's Accidental Gift on Race

Less than a month after being confirmed as the nation's attorney General, Eric H. Holder Jr. called out the American people as "essentially a nation of cowards" for refusing to talk openly about race.

So, thank you, professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and President Obama, for starting the long-awaited national discussion on black and white identity - while averting our attention from the cockamamie scheme to nationalize health care.

And kudos to the professor and the president for choosing Sgt. James Crowley of the Cambridge Police Department as the representative of the Caucasian-American side of this difficult and much-needed historic debate.

Poetry was at work as the archetypal racist white cop who, according to the admittedly fact-challenged president, "stupidly" arrested his "friend." Sgt. Crowley waged a swift and effective public relations campaign that quashed the racism meme that Mr. Gates was recklessly pushing.

The latest on this case is that the 911 caller never mentioned the race of the two men. The police commissioner confirms.

The liberal media had been reporting that she called in “two black men.” Never happened.

She is now “distraught” and may have a case against the Boston Globe and the rest of leftwing hacks.

Does "post-racial world" mean a reverse racist world or does it mean we finally elected a black president?

I hate the fact that every time our president wades into this discussion, or slams the race card on the table, my animosity towards his race grows a little.

From the the number of blacks that voted for Obama, I presume they have the same perspective on race.

The Conversation about Race can go many different ways, and each person would approach it in a unique fashion. But the Conversation cannot begin until it is aknowledged that some of these many approaches may be bothersome to the other party. It's not a real conversation if it has to flow in the direction desired by one of the parties -- we've been having THAT conversation on race for at least 4 decades.

I disagree with his term and the continued use by many of “reverse racism” but otherwise a very good piece. He is absolutely right. For the most part Whites have become cowards even to the point of allowing for the destruction of our country, communites and us as people. Just don’t call me “racist”! Most “People of color” are as “racist” as the day is long yet whites are supposed to be Borg and kowtow to all this racial crap. This whole Alford thing was another a perfect example of how confused and prostrated most whites have become. Today's cultural view of racism seems to imply only white on "choose a minority" racism.

Reverse racism implies racism against whites.

This convolution of terms was brought on by activist blacks and liberal, hand wringing, guilt ridden whites.
