WASILLA, Alaska (AP) -- More than a thousand people showed up for Gov. Sarah Palin's annual picnic held in her hometown of Wasilla.
Palin, who is resigning and leaves office on Sunday, used the occasion Friday to sign autographs and hand out hot dogs. The governor - dressed casually in blue jeans and a sweat shirt - was mobbed by well-wishers who offered up babies, books, calendars, skateboards and even their hands for autographs.

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
Does she EVER look bad?
A couple of years (ok, decades) ago there was an article about how Farrah Fawcett (may she rest in peace) could not take a bad photo. Think Sarah is her successor in that regard. I have never seen one bad pic of the gov .. nor have I ever heard her once stumble over a statement, no ah’s, no ‘ya knows,’ just clear articulation. She’s an amazing woman and I wish her well as she goes forward, for all our sakes.
what you said!
A thousand people in Wasilla is great
Thanks for the C4P link. Great stuff.
obama ever have a bad week? Media always spin everything that would’ve been considered a bad palin week, into a positive
Does anyone know if she has a Karl Rove type onboard as yet?
She honestly doesn’t need one. Her convictions are her guide and as long as her decisions are guided with her heart and head, who needs a gasbag blowhard to screw it up?
“used the occasion Friday to sign autographs and hand out hot dogs.”
That’s not in her job description as Governor. She obviously has no regard for Alaska law. Quick, somebody file an ethics complaint!
I was thinking the same thing. You just know that the anklebiters will file an ethics complaint over the farewell picnics. Losers.
Palin picnic gets a big crowd - AP headline"PALIN PICNIC" -- I like the sound of that!
Perhaps we could DUPLICATE them -- all across the country! We could organize "Palin picnics" EVERYWHERE she goes -- it would become her "signature" event.
There would be a STRONG connection to FAMILY, "average Joe and Jane" -- NOT your "average politician" -- EXCELLENT "photo opportunity."
And, it would "Let Sarah be Sarah!"
"PALIN PICNIC" -- I like the sound of that!See also, from THIS thread:
Sarah Palin at the Reagan Library (8/8): "The GIPPER 2.0"
and details of the FREE rally-- snip --
Currently, we plan THREE events:
TOUR the REAGAN LIBRARY (and AIR FORCE ONE!) ($12/person, I think)All Sarah Palin supporters are welcome to join us for ALL THREE of these events, if you like -- or just the RALLY.
from about 10 am to about 1 pm,
PICNIC LUNCH (free, if you "bring your own") in the picnic area just inside the main entrance to the Library
from about 1 pm to about 3 pm, and
RALLY TO SUPPORT SARAH (also free, but the exact location has not yet been determined)
from about 3 pm to about 6 pm.
“more than a thousand”....looked like many more than a thousand....
I had to laugh at the Washington Post/ABC poll out yesterday citing Palin has a 52% unfavorable rating and her future political career is dead. Of course Huckabee happily reported this standing in for O’Reilly last night. This is garbage news if I ever saw it...
How do you autograph a baby??? LOL!

This is only the beginning and for all you liberal/progressives out there BOHICA.
