WASHINGTON Knocked offstride by a racial uproar he helped stoke, President Barack Obama hastened Friday to try and tamp down the controversy. Obama, who had said Cambridge, Mass., police "acted stupidly" in arresting black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr., declared the white arresting officer was a good man and invited him and the professor to the White House for a beer.
Obama conceded his words had been ill-chosen, but he stopped short of a public apology. He personally telephoned both Gates and Sgt. James Crowley, hoping to end the rancorous back-and-forth over what had transpired and what Obama had said about it. Trying to lighten the situation, he even commiserated with Crowley about reporters on his lawn.
Hours earlier, a multiracial group of police officers had stood with Crowley in Massachusetts and said the president should apologize.
It was a measure of the nation's keen sensitivities on matters of race that the fallout from a disorderly conduct charge in Massachusetts and the remarks of America's first black president about it had mushroomed to such an extent that he felt compelled to make a special appearance at the White House to try to put the matter to rest. The blowup had dominated national attention just as Obama was trying to marshal public pressure to get Congress to push through health care overhaul legislation and as polls showed growing doubts about his performance.

With all the demands of the office of President of the USA, just how does Obama find the time to concern himself with, or bother to even comment on the arrest of a Harvard professor, which takes place not in DC, but in Cambridge Mass?
Is it me?, or do I smell a made for TV racial healing being cooked up by the administration?
If Obama is not the idiot he appears to be, then it's the only logical explanation for such seemingly foolish behavior by our current smarter than GOD in Chief.

He is totally conditioned to respond in that manner decades of exposure to the likes of Rev. Wright.

He could always blame it on the white devil who runs his teleprompter...

"Zero has the list of reporters to call upon and Im sure he knows the questions beforehand. " Exactly right, as too many of us seem to forget from time to time.
This question and answer was scripted.

"It advances his agenda" No doubt about it!
So stay tuned for more adventures in Race relations, where we'll learn just how Ebony and Ivory can be brought together, by America's first "Black" President, and a six pack of Miller Lite!

0bama looks more and more juvenile everyday. Congratulating Bono for avoiding Bush's hug (which Bono seemed to regret himself), snubbing Foxnews crew because he considered them unfriendly to his administration, etc. Those are in addition to more serious actions, such as threatening to ignore Congress and fueling racial divides by commenting small incident...

For the love of God, dont allow a Libtard to get away with spreading the BS gossip and lie that Barry is the next best thing to Dr. MLK in fixing race relations in this country...... Barry doesn't seem to be very nice to some Americans. Let's seek the advice of a Wise Latina! maybe she can shed some light on Barry's hatred of America.

I used to cringe every time Bush spoke in public. Now, with the illiterate Obama, I just laugh. NOBODY in their right mind can believe that Obama is more articulate than Bush. Both have trouble stringing more than three words together, yet Bush is labeled the idiot! I thin Obama is the bigger idiot..

Obama seems not to understand that, in order to be a dictator, you have to have a following of people who want you to dictate to them! Here, nobody except Axilrod and Emmanuel are taking this buffoon seriously....

"The blowup had dominated national attention" You wouldn't know it if your only news came from the San Diego Union-Tribune, out here where we live.
Yea, the editorial page is noted for being conservative, but the national news desk continues to carry NYT, Reuters, and Washington Post headlines, and the headline in Friday's paper was:
"Cop discusses arrest of professor."
WTFO? The issue is 95% Obama's decision to insert his asinine opinion into the matter. Reading that NYT-written headline, I almost burst out laughing.
It continues to give me great comfort that 20 times more people view the Drudge Report than read the NYT anymore.
