Some see the current economic downturn as tough but temporary times to be endured. But others see it as a harbinger of even grimmer days ahead. So theyre preparing for the worst by stockpiling food: piles and piles and piles of it.
Call them suburban survivalists, or call them, well, a little goofy. But theyre dead serious about being ready for a big crash by making sure they have a nice little nosh in case of a catastrophe. Across the country, there are people preparing for the possibility that we will not have access to food by ensuring that their cupboards, at least, will be far from bare.
Postapocalyptic Pathmark Take Bill Cole, a dad and doctor who runs a successful chiropractic office. He seems like the guy next door which is where you may have to go to politely borrow a cup (or a barrel) of sugar should a fatal financial meltdown occur.
Cole has turned his home in the suburbs of Pittsburgh into a virtual postapocalyptic Pathmark. Ive got enough to last two years for me and my immediate family, he says. His stockpile is filled with foods that can stand the test of time from peanuts to pancake mix, canned peaches to peas.

Call me "a little goofy" but at least I'm ready for most things that may happen. Once MSM starts reporting on our stockpiling of guns & ammo., you know the time is near.

Bullets will be a HUGE bargaining commodity. Stock up while you can.
He really should not be broadcasting his plans.
Funny. Those along the Gulf Coast know all about stockpiling supplies - because the gubbermint tells us to. So, how is this any different other than the guns and ammo? Oh, that’s right. It’s because we may use that weaponry against their beloved marxist government. That’s what makes us “goofy”.
I just watched a film clips from Beck and others-

GERALD CELENTE
He talks about a serious collapse, crime, etc
Also previous FR postings on this guy.
Chances are those reporting and scoffing won’t survive because they think it’s goofy
I’d like to see MSNBC do a series on Left-wing lunatics—who are far more numerous, deluded and dangerous than these folks.
Real question:
If the time comes when ammo becomes a form of currency, does it make more sense to stock up on ammo now than on nonperishable foods?
I mean we hear all these ads saying buy gold now, and yet how does one use a gold coin worth $900 or so to pay for groceries?
I do keep a small stash of silver U.S. cartwheels, but at $20 apiece true value, they seem much more fungible.
Comments?
I have started watching the ED Show on MSNBC, which comes on after Glenn Beck on Fox. Why would conservatives not watch the other side? Its entertaining and you can see how the other side thinks. Its not like MSNBC can brainwash you or anything.
Workers of the World, Unite! Heil Hitler! Cap and Trade! Cap and Trade!
parsy, who is starting to worry about his carbon footprint, and his treatment of trans-gender individuals
Hmm? What a dumba$$. Pittsburg is a bit far from where I live in Providence, RI. But at least I know where a supply of provisions are should I need them.
I sometimes do the same with CHrissy and Ed, but I draw the line with Olberman. Makes my blood pressure rise!
...but don't call then "hungry". ...or "victims".
Whoa. You might be overdoing it a mite, Friend...

I miss ol’ Warren, except that he was a buddy of Letterman’s.
Whiskey
Rum
Sugar
Flour
These are some good tradin’ supplies....(IMO)
Our state officials say every Hurricane season that everybody should be prepared for three days. I beat that by a long shot.
Also, we who keep a close eye on the news will be able to top off the pantry shelves with nice to have stuff about 6 hours before the panic stampede starts for basic items.
