House healthcare negotiations dissolved in acrimony on Friday, with Blue Dog Democrats saying they were lied to by their Democratic leaders.
The seven Blue Dogs on the Energy and Commerce Committee stormed out of a Friday meeting with their committee chairman, Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), saying Waxman had been negotiating in bad faith over a number of provisions Blue Dogs demanded be changed in the stalled healthcare bill.
Ive been lied to, Blue Dog Coalition Co-Chairman Charlie Melancon (D-La.) said on Friday. We have not had legitimate negotiations.
Mr. Waxman has decided to sever discussions with the Blue Dogs who are trying to make this bill work for America, Melancon said...

"Waxman simply does not have votes in committee and process should not be bypassed to bring the bill straight to floor, Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), the lead Blue Dog negotiator, said on Friday. We are trying to save this bill and trying to save this party.
Melancon said there would be 40-45 solid no votes from the 52-strong Blue Dogs, among other problems throughout the caucus.

The number refers to the district they represent.
I’m 63.
Ahhhhh . . . music to my conservative ears.
Thank you very much, I was sure it was something simple I was missing.
I thought I was the only one in the world who remembered the “Robin Hood” TV series.
That means he’s voting yes, most likely. To even consider this bill as legitimate is BS. Therefore, anyone unwilling to say how they’ll vote means they’re going for it.
Stay on him.

THIS COULD GET FUN>>>PASS THE POPCORN>>>PING!!!!!!
No, no , NO nationalized health care!!! Period!
Bump for FAIL!
Good. The more anger the better on this one.
There will be time for calm relaxation AFTER Obamacare is dead and gone.

That’s true!
They’re just now figuring out their leadership is a bunch of LIARS?!??

It’s called CYA...
Yeah, I’m thinking of changing my name.
“I wonder how these congress people will feel when it’s their daughter or granddaughter who is denied a test like this until it is too late.”
+++++++++++++
Oh, that won’t happen. Of that you can be sure...the politburo, always gets the fine cigars, liquor, cheeses and doctors...
No, they plan to kill the rest of us, and particularly, our parents, grandparents and babies...
Era? No I think that the operative phrase with slick Willie was
“shut up and go down”
Nah, I don't believe it either.
BARF alert that sucker...! :)
Interesting question.
Perhaps because they still see themselves on the side of "the little guy", rather than on the side of the big corporate giants that they identify with Republicans as genrally supporting.
I just thought it funny that the Blue Dog common ethic was "fiscal conservatism and accountability", which assumes that the rest of the Democratic Party DOESN'T support those values.
“I can imagine him close to a crisis because his ego can’t tolerate anyone not approving of what he wants - especially a Democrat.”

And now his numbers are tumbling, so is he thinking - I’m wasting my capital on nothing?
Oh how sweet that sounds...now if we can drive through to 2010 and reverse the other man-made disasters like crap and tax...

I saw that list and other than Jane Harman, who I can’t believe is in the “Blue Dog” category, and they all scream RE-ELECTION CONCERNS based on the states alone.
For the life of me I can’t figure out how on God’s green Earth Utah elected a Democratic representative. I thought that state was as red as red can be. Obviously Rep. Matheson realizes that it was a fluke he won and if he had to take this stinker home he’s done for.
Now, I really want to know... how many of us were 100% convinced that with a 60/40 split in the Senate and the majority the Rats have in the House that this bill would be as kaplooey as it apparently is?
All I can say is fortune is favoring the foolish. Our nation should be as lucky to have outside enemies as incompetent as its internal enemies.
