No, I think you’ve missed what’s going on. It’s now good cop, bad cop. Obama can afford to play the nice guy, let’s all get along role if Skip Gates agrees to be the attack dog. The professional, academic, pop-culture racists are out in full force defending Skipperoo—NPR gave him air time this morning. Obama can leave that flank to them and he can soar, god-like, above the fray.
And only racists will yammer about his having dissed policemen or “acted stupidly” at his press conference. It will all soon be forgotten, as far as he’s concerned. The media will focus on Gates and his homeys.
It all depends on whether the Great Unwashed out there sees through the charade or not.

If we had a free press, the next question to ask Osama is whether he agrees with Gates’s characterization of Crowley as a “rogue” policeman.
Is Harvard going to charge him for the damage he did to the door while breaking into their property?

The conversation should be about how its just A-ok for white people to be trashed and slandered as racist.
Deny everything, act concerned, make immediate counteraccustaions.
