Art gallery invites visitors to deface the Bible

"The exhibit, Untitled 2009, was proposed by the Metropolitan Community Church, an international Christian group which describes itself as offering “inclusive Christian ministry to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered communities”.

The £7,000 exhibition, which is funded by the Scottish Arts Council and is free of charge, has been created by the artists Anthony Schrag and David Malone in association with organisations representing gay Christians and Muslims.

Mr Schrag, 34, told the newspaper: “Any offensive things that have been written are not the point of the work. It was an open gesture. Are those who say they are upset offended by the things that people write, or just by the very notion that someone should write on a Bible?” "

Britain has long ceased being Christian nation and has been going downhill ever since. It would have been more interesting were these “artists” using Koran. But that would cause offense, of course.

So, where is that defaced Koran that should be exhibited right next to this

? The Metropolitan Community Church isn't an international Christian group, they aren't aren't "christians" at all. How dare they call themselves that. They are an abomination, not a christian. A Christian follows the word and example of Christ, not defile and mock it.

They should have hid the word of God:

*shrug* I'm not sure what they expected. I used to have displays that invited audience participation in my gallery. I stopped because of things exactly like this being written, drawn, etc...

The most vulgar and childish comments are usually from people old enough to know better BTW. I learned to keep a sharp eye on people over 50 after I gave them a sharpie. Actual children will usually take the ability to participate very seriously (even if it's just supposed to be fun).

The didn't choose a Koran because they are still officially a Christian country with a state church. I don't think it even occurs to them to consider what it might be like attempting to do things like this in a Muslim country. They probably can't think that far ahead or that far away from themselves (the center of the universe).
