Osama bin Laden's son may have been killed by a U.S. missile strike in Pakistan earlier this year, it has emerged.
Sa'ad bin Laden was a prominent figure in the relationship between Iran and the al Qaeda terror network.
He was held under house arrest in the country for a number of years and fled to Pakistan after being released, US intelligence officials said.
A missile fired from an American drone aircraft is believed to have killed him sometime this year, a counter-terrorism official told US National Public Radio.
America's intelligence agencies were '80 to 85 per cent' certain Sa'ad bin Laden was dead, the official confirmed.
The younger bin Laden was not important enough to be targeted himself but was 'in the wrong place at the wrong time', the official added.
It was not clear whether Sa'ad bin Laden was near his father when he died, NPR added. The son of Osama bin Laden (pictured) was 'probably killed in an airstrike'

The official described him as being active in al Qaeda, but not a major player. He is thought to be aged around 28.

I’d heard that a BinLaden son was living in Iran.
It always made me wonder - we’ve all had the experience of calling someone and then mistaking identifying the person answering the phone, because the son sounds exactly like the father.
Is there a chance that this son is the “voice of Osama” on the various tape recordings since the 2002 bombing that ostensibly killed Osama?

Great news here. It’d be greater if we somehow found out Sa’ad was on the periphery of the impact zone and sustained agonizing wounds and suffered immeasurably for months. Oh, yeah... and that the strike occurred BEFORE 20 Jan 2009.

Now Osama will get really mad at us! Expect a deadly attack soon to answer for the death of his son—that is unless Osama is dead himself. He’s going to want revenge.
