WASHINGTON President Barack Obama's popularity has boosted America's image abroad even though deep suspicions about the U.S. persist in the Muslim world, according to a poll released Thursday.
The survey of two dozen nations conducted this spring by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center found that positive public attitudes toward the United States have surged in many parts of the world since Obama's election.
Positive opinions about the United States have returned to higher levels not seen since before President George W. Bush took office in 2001. The Bush presidency marked a steep decline in U.S. popularity overseas, notably after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, because of a perception that the post-9/11 war on terrorism was targeted at Muslims.
"The image of the United States has improved markedly in most parts of the world, reflecting global confidence in Barack Obama," the center said in its annual Pew Global Attitudes Report.
The only exception was Israel, where attitudes toward the U.S. have dipped since Bush left office.

Time for another apology tour.
Is anyone else getting sick of these apology tours.
It’s because the world HATE AMERICA SO MUCH that they LOVE OBAMA!
F*** the rest of the world.
“The survey of two dozen nations conducted this spring by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center found that positive public attitudes toward the United States have surged in many parts of the world since Obama’s election.”
When the Soviet Union fell apart, our attitude of it went up as well.
The AP is doing this to deflect from last night's disaster.
Uhbama is liked because he trashes us.
I rather have the world's respect born of the knowledge that the US stands behind its beliefs than have the world verbally proclaim it LIKES the US because it appeases everyone.
Poll numbers tanking at home?
Show world opinion polls instead!
They don’t love us. They just love the fact that they don’t have to respect us anymore. If anything we are such a laughing stock now that we are an endless source of mirth for them.
“W” must have done something right after all.
You get used to being hated after a while.
I’ve been hated for existing since birth, and I know I will be, no matter what I do.
That knowledge is liberating.
I think this is why a lot of people voted for Obama. They wanted to be loved by the rest of the world.
To the world I would say this:
Don’t judge a book by its cover.
LOL, file this under “DUH”.
Hell, why wouldn’t they love us now? After all they have in our WH a Socialist just like them, a coward just like them who would appease the enemy rather then fight and who would rather tax to death those who work the hardest and are the most successful to supply cradle to grave handouts to the poor unfortunates who think they deserve it all.
The fact is that because of CAPITALISM we have in just about 300 years surpassed by far everything the euroweenies have accomplished with their socialism in 1500 years or more. They are simply savagely jealous of our success because it highlights the failure of their own system. Now they have someone in our WH who will trash our economy and turn us into what they have been for so many years, a failed society.
You know how it goes, misery loves company.
Machiavelli said it is beeter for people to fear you rather than love you. What has all this outpouring of “love” gotten us. Answer: nada.
I quite frankly don’t believe this. Europeans began to vote in more center right leaders after President Bush went to the WH. That’s not a sign of dislike.
1. Do they respect us? and
2. Do our enemies fear us?
I think that under zer0 the answer to both is a resounding NO!
Does that mean the checks are in the mail? Why does anyone care?
