This is not another "just words" moment.
During a primetime press conference on the whole black-Harvard-scholar-being-racially-profiled-and-arrested-in-his-Cambridge-Massachusetts-home thing, President Obama said,
"Well, I should say at the outset that Skip Gates is a friend, so I may be a little biased here. I don't know all the facts."This is where the president should have stopped and minded his own business, but the all-about-me man just couldn't contain himself...
Now, I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact.President Obama admits he didn't know much about the case, and yet slams a police department on national television. Is this stupid or what?

Dinkins allowed riots so that his clients could vent on whites. NYC was a dangerous place. No law.
Obama pissed away trillions so his clients could rob the country. Soon enough, they will need another payoff. If they dont get it, riots?
Although both hated America, the difference between the two is Dinkins was an American. He wasn't born with foreign citizenship.
Obama hating America is understandable. He's not one of us.
I am glad that all our difficulties have been sorted out to the degree that the President of the United States has time in a prime time press conference to deal with this pressing situation.
Is he going to start having press conferences on American Idol results?
The sooner the “American people” who elected this POS realize that in terms of executive experience, Zero has less experience than a certain female Governor from Alaska (whom he and his minions endlessly trash), the better the chances are for this to be rectified.
Long way of saying, the guy is an idiot, and what better ammo could a prosecuting attorney have for a possible appeal than to say the case was prejudged in the media by a prominent “lawyer/attorney”...who just happened to be the Teleprompter of the United States.

What we know so far.. A neighbor reports a black man breaking into his friend’s home. Police respond to find a black man breaking into a home. He cops an attitude with them, he get’s some tude back and cries racism. He then finally shows his ID but still cops a tude, calls them racist and confronts the officers so he gets rousted for creating a scene.
Dear Leader thinks it’s okay to ignore officers and call them racists because he knows the guy.
wow..
I think it has a lot more to do with environment than anything. If you look at whites in a predominantly black high crime neighborhood, I suspect you would find a pretty similar crime rate among the whites.
My tiny middle class town has a single black family. Yesterday I talked to the head of that household about this Gates thing. He said that his neighbors don’t view him with suspicion and when we had local cops, they didn’t view him with suspicion. However now that we have state and county police patrols, he expects to be treated a little different by police simply because he sticks out among his neighbors.
It should be pointed out that ANY new family moving in around here is viewed with at least a little suspicion. We’re just a close knit little village of around 150 people or so.
Would it not be easier to list the times that the Obamaloon has not spoken stupidly?
Because they disproportionately commit more crime. It's that simple.

Since when does the POTUS get involved in local police matters specifically of such small impact?

And an African American officer was standing there at the arrest.
Anybody who is familiar with Cambridge MA knows that it is extremely unlikely that anyone working in the police department is a racist, or does anything in other than the most politically correct way. Way back in the 80's there was a huge issue in Cambridge where a police officer got into an altercation with an African American man and arrested him. There were racial overtones, and as it turned out the African American man was an assistant DA. I recall it was a career ending move for the police officer, and if my memory serves me correctly the chief of police as well. And then the whole department received additional training, etc.
The long string of liberal, and at this point, African American mayors, have made sure that the police department operates in a way which is consistent with their values. Suggesting, as President Obama did, that there is institutional racism among the Cambridge police is nonsense.
I thought I read that the arresting officer was a latino.
I was offended when he referred to the White House as his house. It is the people’s house!
Obama usually sounds stupid without his teleprompter.
This is going to end up being the most memorable thing about that press conference. Which is sort of a shame, because on the topic of health care deform, Obama showed himself for the rambling fool he is.
But now he’s going to look like a real jerk and inflame who knows what kind of backlash if it turns out that Gates was being an ass to the officers, which it seems he was.
Why was Gates belligerent towards the Officers? There's nothing "racist" here in the slightest.
Anyone else here sick and tired of the "race card" being played so quickly in so many situations?
Sheeeesh.
As you would expect in a city like Cambridge, the police department is a very diverse group. And given the liberal mindset which created this whole situation, group identity matters. There were white, latino and African American officers present at the arrest. Knowing Cambridge I wouldn't be surprised if there was also an officer present who was GLB or T - no doubt the city has ensured equal representation for every group on the police force.
And knowing Cambridge, it is entirely possible that every person present - from the police officers to the neighbors - voted for Obama, and is a liberal Democrat.
Claiming that the police in Cambridge are racists is just silly.
"Well, I should say at the outset that Skip Gates is a friend, so I may be a little biased here. I don't know all the facts."
I did not watch Ø last night, but for some reason it made me think of this saying:
"It is often better to be perceived as a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
Joke:
Cop, walking a beat, finds a man on his hands and knees under a street lamp.
He asks the man what he’s doing.
The man says “looking for my wallet”.
The cop asks him where he thinks he lost it.
He says “half a block back”.
The cop says “why aren’t you looking there, then?”
The man says “the light’s better here.”
The point of this is that if you’re looking for a criminal, you look where the criminals are.
