As President Obama pushes for passage of his first major domestic policy change, some physicians are waging an all-out war against a health care reform bill they say amounts to nothing more than socialized medicine.
Some doctors charge the bill will lead to inferior patient care as physician offices around the country triple their patient lists and become forced to ration care.
"This is war," Dr. George Watson, a Kansas physician and president-elect of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons, told FOXNews.com Thursday. "This is a bureaucratic boondoggle to grab control of health care. Everything that has been proposed in the 1,018 page bill will contribute to the ruination of medicine."
Watson said the president's reform bill is loaded with rules and regulations that will ultimately result in shoddy patient care and long waiting lines. He blasted the bill as "insidious" by forcing doctors contracted with Medicare into the nationalized plan -- a "trap" he described as "involuntary servitude."

Failure!
I was wondering when we’d begin hearing from them. They all - the entire industry - stand to lose a heck of a lot if this thing passes.
What took them so long...
Did they need to see the bills before they started to open fire?
“He blasted the bill as ‘insidious’ by forcing doctors contracted with Medicare into the nationalized plan — a ‘trap’ he described as ‘involuntary servitude.’”
Actually, no. It’s not servitude. Doctors can choose to stop being doctors. They can go into fields where their hard work and free minds are compensated fairly.
That’s what happened in Canada, Britain, et. al. Capital and labor are competed away by industries that can afford them, whereas the healthcare industry shrivels up and dies.
Not just the docs. Think of the med schools that could lose students in their various degree progarmmes. When future doctors and nurses see that their salaries will be capped, many will just say, “Screw it, I’m outta here.”
My sentiments to. It’s about time. I hope they are not to late to the riot.
Clearly the plan to cut the Medicare plan will force doctors who take Medicare patients to operated with about a third less in government reimbursement. This will have a chilling effect on the number of doctors who will accept Medicare.
It is no wonder that this is opposed by the Mayo Clinic. My son is currently seeking treatment at Mayo under Medicare and at this time Mayo will accept Medicare. But what if Obamacare passes?
This does not bode well for doctors, as a group doctors are smart enough to see that they will treat more people and receive less with this plan. Why in the world woult the Government target the best and brightest (and most important) part of our medical care system? This is the clear statememt that the democrats cannot stand to see somepeople make a lot of money.
Wasn’t George Tiller a “Kansas physician”? HUMMMM...
and the Health Insurers? They are tied into the financial system.
Yup.
If this POS goes through, a lot of doctors will be retiring. Talk about a shortage.
What is your point?
Think Affirmative action Doctors. This is the big one Elizabeth.
Just a thought. YOU make the point(beings the YOU brought it up).
The AMA supports the bill. This is the Association of Physicians and Surgeons which I will be joining once I cancel my AMA.
I don't have one Dr. now that actually will bill Medicare. The hospitals will, but not the Docs.
I have a Physician that spends an hour or more with me for less than $250.00, I get a bill that I submit to my private insurance which refunds about 60%. It is actually a very good deal. Same day service if I need it. I doubt that can continue under Obama care, because that Dr. will have to write prescriptions, which will reveal the practice......Hillary had penalties for seeking care outside the Government plan.
My son just completed his internship and was going into private practice. Took the last 4 days to read what he could find on various versions of the bill, added up the amount of loans he has to repay plus what his malpractice will cost him for the first year versus potential for govt to limit his income and changed his mind. Going to join the military next week - he’s a great doctor and looks like they need some!

How can this be? The AMA came out for the power grab just a few days ago, I thought.
According to one of the physicians that spoke at our National Health Care protest in Chattanooga, approximately 29% of physicians belong to the AMA. They do NOT represent the majority of medical professionals. I believe that they've become (if they weren't already) a purely political organization.
BTW, our crowd was relatively small but enthusiastic...
