There's room in this world for all God's creatures.

Right next to the meat and mashed potatoes.

Dang it! I messed up that joke.

It's supposed to say "Right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy."

I don’t think giving livestock rights is on the communist agenda. It very well could be on the agenda of someone bound and determined to destroy a society, however.

Obama shouldn’t have insulted those bitter clingers. Now he’ll never be rid of them until they’re rid of him.

Sen. John Cornyn, "holds the confirmation" because he is concerned that Cass would push a radical animal rights agenda..

How about also having some concern for preserving free speech?! Cass intends to violate the First Amendment with the Government regulation of speech on the Internet.

That whole silly "freedom of speech" thing must be of no bother to the confirming Senators. But, hey, at least the animals won't have a radical agenda pushed on them. /sarc

".....specifically the fact that he wants to establish legal 'rights' for livestock, wildlife and pets, which would enable animals to file lawsuits in American courts,"

I don't see the problem. The very first action should be a civil suit for wrongful death filed on behalf of the fly swatted by The Usurper two weeks ago.

It should be accompanied by a simultaneous criminal action for murder.

Cornyn's spokesman said the senator will be happy when he gets direct assurances from Sunstein that he will not pursue an agenda akin to some of his past writings, particularly on the animal rights issue.

"Sen. Cornyn hasn't had a chance to speak with him yet, that's the reason for the hold," said McLaughlin. "He wants to have a chance to before moving forward."

This doesn't seem very reassuring. Saxby Chambliss dropped his objection after he got assurance in writing from Sunstein.

Will Cornyn go through the same theater and then drop his hold? After all, when was the last time a liberal lied?

I thought his “czars” didn’t have to be confirmed?

That's what I thought.

This assclown wants to allow animals to file lawsuits? Well there's a whole new segment of business for the trial lawyer's assn.

Political Affairs Magazine, Marxist Thought Online
Book Review – The Second Bill of Rights, Cass R. Sunstein -.

..As the basis of this claim, Sunstein points to FDR’s state of the union address delivered in January of 1944. In this speech, FDR called for expanding both legally and culturally our concept of our basic rights. FDR challenged the American people to think beyond the rights listed in the Bill of Rights and include:

the right to a useful and remunerative job
the right to earn a living wage
the right of business owners to be free of unfair competition form monopoly capital
the right to adequate health care
the right to housing
the right to Social Security, social insurance, unemployment insurance
the right to a good education
