Obama Regulatory Czar's Confirmation Held Up by Hunting Rights Proponent

WASHINGTON -- President Obama's nominee for "regulatory czar" has hit a new snag in his Senate confirmation process -- a "hold" by Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who's says he's not convinced that Harvard professor Cass Sunstein won't push a radical animal rights agenda, including new restrictions on agriculture and even hunting.

Senators are permitted "holds" to prevent a vote on a nominee from coming to the floor. They are often secretive and for very specific reasons.

"Sen. Cornyn finds numerous aspects of Mr. Sunstein's record troubling, specifically the fact that he wants to establish legal 'rights' for livestock, wildlife and pets, which would enable animals to file lawsuits in American courts," the Republican's spokesman, Kevin McLaughlin, said in a statement to FOXNews.com.

Obama has become nothing but a communist juggernaut and our country is in his path.

I’m a Cornyn supporter. and have found him to be dependably honest (a rare thing in Congress)

You rock, Cornyn!!

I’ve found that behind every local tree worshiping, animal worshiping, environmentalist, there’s a larger corporate/government interest. There lies the key to stopping them. Become more self-sufficient. There are always ways to do so. Don’t buy anything that you don’t need, and encourage them to spend even more. After the defaults, we’ll get new leadership at all levels.

The liberals have the Miranda rule.
Conservatives can have the Cornyn rule.

I try to stock up on ammo every time I’m near somewhere that sells it.

And I really don’t enjoy pointing this out, but notice that most of them have German surnames.

Grazing cattle have “rights”..... and somewhere between medium-rare and medium is usually just about “right.”

*Czars* is such a fitting term for those he’s appointing for the position.

I never thought I’d see the country go down the tubes as fast as it is now.

God help us.

Awesome. Sunstein is one of Obama’s closest friends, so this should piss him off headed into his Wed network PR stunt.

I don’t get it....I thought the “czars” didn’t need senate confirmation. Maybe this guy isn’t a true “czar.”

They don't. If they do, then there has been ZERO news coverage of the process -- and how in the world have the crackpots and fascists already there get confirmed? Maybe they have just decided to "ignore" Obama's czar infrastructure and treat them as cabinet appointments? I want Obama to personally pay the US tax payers back the salaries for these 34 czars or get run out of Washington. I'm guess we're looking at in excess of 5.8 million.

“Senators are permitted “holds” to prevent a vote on a nominee from coming to the floor.”

more than “nominees”....

“Senate tradition allows any senator to keep a piece of legislation from reaching the Senate floor by placing a hold on the bill.”

"I try to stock up on ammo every time I’m near somewhere that sells it."

Good! We're in a very remote area and don't have as much concern about human predators, but we do enjoy using firearms from older technologies for sport, etc., including reloading, being so far from the cities and large sporting goods stores. Stocking up on manufacturing methods and tools for hobbies of making other products (from vehicle parts to furniture) is probably a good idea for those of us who can do that, too.
