Gov. Sarah Palin shocked the political world, not for the first time, by delivering an unexpected resignation speech in Wasilla on July 3rd. As usual, there is no shortage of commentary about it. So far, opinion seems to coalescing on the fact that the speech was "rambling". A Google search on "Palin resignation rambling" turns up over 537 thousand hits.

Palin proceeded from topic to topic logically, without digression. I have read much analysis of her supposed "contradictions", and virtually all of these are manufactured from whole cloth. If there were any disorganization in this speech, it eludes my trained analysis.

In short, Palin's speech resoundingly demonstrates that she is not only an expert platform speaker, but a gifted one. I imagine that she is the envy of virtually all other speakers, hence the obvious resentment of her by other politicians. They can only dream of possessing her skill, and they take her towering ability as a stinging rebuke and the threat to their ambitions that it frankly is.
So whence the characterization of her speech as "rambling"? I believe Ann Coulter nailed it: media pundits had their opinion on the speech ready before Palin even delivered it. This explanation is at least plausible, but I will leave it to the reader to speculate as to why.
For a contrast in speaking ability, I present President Obama......

The problem is that Sarah dangled all the bait in front of their noses and they did not pick up on it, and to this day, they still do not know what she told them about her plans.

Here’s how I see it. For 11 solid months the sleazy liberal media which controls 90% of what all of us see and hear, has gone 24/7 bashing, slashing, lying and in general attempting to demolish each and every scintilla of her credibility. She has been called stupid, cheap, a flake, a ditz and more. The result? A poll taken by a very respected pollster has her trailing the Hussein in a match up for the presidency by just 7 points. What is that, 3-4 points outside the MOE?
It now becomes apparent why the left has spent all this time and money to demolish a person who LOST an election and wasn’t even the primary candidate but only the VP.
Most of us here suspected it was fear on the part of the Left since it is often and truly said we hate what it is we fear the most.
The libs are scared sh*tless of this woman.
Seeing her debate president teleprompter would be so cool!
Thank you. That is a good analysis of her speech.
And without teleprompter to boot.
FWIW, unlike that idiot, Larry Summers, I pay little attention to the number of hits.
It makes a difference how your search is defined. Search the phrase “rambling speech” as in
palin AND resignation AND “rambling speech”
you get a greatly reduced number, about 5,590 hits.
For example, here are the results for
Obama AND fraud
“Results 1 - 10 of about 29,900,000”
Search the phrase “obama is a fraud” and you get
“Results 1 - 10 of about 102,000”
I’m just one old country boy, on the outside looking in, but my predictions are that Sarah has a plan, and that when she is ready to divulge it, it is going to gut them like a dead fish. I think it is obvious, but we shall see.
Yup, good stuff.
Anti-Palin mittbots, PDS sufferers, and pseudo-conservatives to show up in 5, 4, 3...
Bingo! I told my son the other day that I am sure she keeps a copy of Sun Tzu on the nightstand next to her Bible.
they have as much to do with legitimate news reporting as a “massage parlor” in the red light district has to do with “physical therapy.” In each case, there is only the slightest pretense, which no one with a brain believes..
Excellent piece, articulating what we already know.
The Mitt trolls have so turned me off of Romney (along with Romney's own words on RomneyCare) that I will not vote for him even if he is the nominee. I don't want to trade for a softer socialist.
-The libs and their marxist cohorts fear Sarah Palin because they can’t rebut her arguments. The elites, b program, which crosses traditional party lines is beginning to take shape. Can’t be a oth democrat and republican fear her because she’s not one of them and a populist anti beltway elite movement, sort of like Beck’s rd party though in order to be successful. Must remake GOP at grassroots level and be strong enough, a la Reagan coalition to draw conservative/moderate dems into the fold. If she can do that, with our help, Comrade O will be a term POTUS and we’ll have a fighting chance for survival. The problem, other thanthe inside the beltway boys are the elitists that run wall street who can careless about us “mainstreeters.”

The key to understanding what she said was to watch the whole thing on video. She comes off much better on tv than when her words are reprinted.
There definitely was a flow and organization to it. Rambling goes too far, though I have to say it did need some better transitions.
The reason liberal media types cannot understand someone laike Governor Sarah Palin is that they suffer from what the conservative philosopher Eric Voegelin has called ‘restrictive consciousness’. She is simply beyond theeir comprehension.
Prepared speeches read from teleprompters provide those smooth transitions.
Personally I had no trouble understanding what she was saying.
No teleprompter used I noticed.
