I agree, the crime is heading out to the suburbs. We live in the East end of Louisville, where crime has been very low. Now we are all putting in alarm systems and making sure our cars are in the garage. Next, it will be arming ourselves. Of course, we are the only ones with stuff worth stealing.

Exactly— Thread here yesterday says Bakersfield has more gang members than ever before and the police are waaaay behind the curve in dealing with the problems.
I have friends who live there. All their lives..they have had their house broken into 2 times in the past 15 months, and they live in a very nice area. Lots of stuff stolen.

My mid-sized college town has experienced a 50% increase in burglaries in the past two years. Flat-screen TVs are a specialty of the local B & E thugs.
